EARLY BIRD DAY, THURSDAY 7TH
A cloudy, windy and an almost cool day had our Chapter driving North on US-1/301 to Kelly’s Coun-
tryside RV Park, located about seven miles north of Callahan, Florida. There we were greeted by our
Hosts, Bob and Jean Samples. Do any of the old folks remember the RADAR that used the base for the
sign? Some old Cold War mementoes are still in use.
Glenn was the last RV to arrive for the Early Bird
day. His small class C was backed up near the
fence. Good satellite reception there.
Ole and Pat always know when Glenn’s RV ar-
rives, because AJ can come out of a sound sleep
to be ready for the expected small biscuit treat.
2
We gather at the Joneses RV for our last out-
door meeting. With so many of the Chapter
members arriving for the Early Bird day, is it really
an early day?
Soon we have the use of the spotless meeting
room. The traditional Burnt Dogs Supper gets us
to come inside. Christine will arrive in time for
supper.
No burnt dogs tonight. We used an electric
grill for the dogs and the small Microwave to
warm the buns.
Jean had prepared her homemade chili for the
dogs. Some additional extras were also provided
by the members.
That evening Jean finds that a run of Sevens is
only lucky at the Craps Table. Good thing it was
only Nickle Nickel (I Need That) being played.
The women know that they can have girls only
talk about the table as the men depart to their
TV’s in the RV’s.
Members Attending: Samples, Fenders, Johnsons, Jones, Morans, Mullises and Yearouses.
Guests: Joe and Glenda Stoncipher (drive-in for Saturday).
March Birthdays: ASD Ken Risberg 3/15.
February Anniversaries: None.

DAY – 1, Friday 8TH
There is no sun out today. There is a feeling
that the weather is about to change.
AJ got Pat up early, ate her breakfast biscuit but
some was scattered on the ground.
At our 9:00 a.m. breakfast, at Steamboat Lily’s in
Hillard, we could have a large table. The Breakfast
Club still is using the other large table.
Glenn’s Bean Bag Baseball set is in use this
morning. It was not an even match. 29 to 5 shows
a need for more practice before a Samboree.
1 Windy’s has a warm chili and some small meals
for this colder day.
2 Bill and Nancy Moran had arrived this morn-
ing and joined us for lunch.
3 As we eat, Glenn notices the large rooster
walking out of the hedge. Soon he is a topic of
conversation. When people walk by he does not
act up by defending his place. He gets food from
the nearby bar and maybe some from Windy’s.

DAY – 2, Saturday 9TH
During the afternoon, the table is put to use
to look at our old Chapter Flag. It is rather large
to make the walk at a Samboree. We may have a
new flag soon.
Christine called Cedar River Seafood & Oyster
Bar to reserve a table for all of us. They do not re-
serve tables, but when we arrived enough tables
were not in use so we could be seated together.
Our breakfast will start at 9:00 a.m. Some of
us are ready to help out long before that time.
Glenn tries out his new huge coffee cup today.
Jean was up cooking her bread base for her
scrambled egg, sausage and potatoes breakfast
meal.
The later breakfast time provides a full house
at the official hour. We are somewhat scattered
about the long table. The coffee is in demand on
this colder morning. Glenn has nearly gotten the
lighting of this room adjusted in his camera.
At 10:00 a.m., we have our business meeting.
Christine is still working on which meeting form
to use. Jean quietly reminds Christine when she
skips an important item of business. What is a
good Vice President for?
5
There was little discussion about where to eat
our lunch. When Steamboat was mentioned, a
near unanimous vote was to return for another
round of eating too much.
We were able to use two adjacent eight place
tables for our meals. It took some time for all
those meals to arrive. The locals did not expect to
find such a large crowd on a Saturday.
While we were waiting, another table was
served and Christine noted just how large the
hamburger was. She took a picture of the man
trying to get a bite. He good naturally staged his
second bite.
Glenn’s BLT, after eating one fourth, had this
much still on his plate. Big hamburger, yes! Big
BLT, yes! and most lunch meals were of an abun-
dant size. Lily feeds her neighbors well and has a
very clean restaurant.
We look at our waitress’s new toy. New to her,
that is. She is slowly getting the accessories to
make it into her own truck.
That afternoon we have another Bean Bag
Baseball game. Glenn starts to install Open Office
on Eleanor’s portable. The WiFi did not work.
That evening Jean Samples had her Chicken Pot Pie for our covered dish supper. After supper and the
kitchen clean-up, the women had their game again. Patti (Manager) started a fire in the fire ring. A few
of the men sat around the fire to talk. Glenn found the seats too far from the fire on this cold evening.
6
DAY – 3, Sunday 10TH
Jean baked the biscuits and Bill cooked the sau-
sages. They build the breakfast and place them
on the serving table.
Soon we are eating and talking about our next
camp out. We clean up the kitchen and sweep up
the floor and make the room ready.
Glenn and Ellis finish the clean-up and they
await the final lockup so they can make ready to
travel.
Christine and her advisors review this camp out
and what plans to make for the Samboree and
the next scheduled meeting at the other Kelly’s.
Christine’s Last Words: The Chapter had an excellent attendence at Kelly’s. It was good to see Joe and
Glenda Stonecipher during their drive in on Saturday. Our coordination needs improvement, by more
practice at Bean Bag Baseball. We had a good time at this pleasent campground.
March Camp out, Host comments: Pat’s plan, as of this newsletter, is;
Thursday (EB): Supper on your own, maybe at Country Cabin in Lake City. There may be a BINGO
game in Lake City.
Friday: Supper on your own, maybe at Fat Bellies.
Saturday: For breakfast, Kelly’s is serving pancakes at the meeting room for $3.50. That evening we
have the meeting room for a covered dish supper. Pat will announce the main dish at the Rodehaver
Samboree and an Email will be sent after the Samboree.
Sunday: Breakfast at Fat Bellies.
