1. Gassho Meditation Gassho Meditation Mikao Usui meditated for 21 days, and at the end of that time, he received the gift of Reiki. Our program is also 21 days long and I ask that we also actively meditate during this training period; using the Gassho Meditation. Many say Usui Sensei practiced Gassho meditation as a part of his personal Reiki regimen every day, twice a day. Gassho literally means, Two hands coming together. This meditation is simple and only takes 5 - 15 minutes each day. 2. Put yourself in your usual meditation position, you can use the lotus position or just sit in a chair, keep your back straight. Relax, release your worries, allow your whole body and mind to relax. Place your hands in prayer position in front of the heart chakra. If you leave a little gap between your hands you can feel the energy, like sparks, jumping from hand to hand. Close your eyes Begin breathe in the Reiki energy through your nose As you exhale, visualize this energy flowing through your whole being; physical body, spiritual body, mental body and etheric body. Feel it flowing out around you in your chair. As you continue to breathe, feel it flowing into the room and then your home or wherever you are, filling it with Reiki energy. Feel the energy grow stronger as it flows outside your home and into the neighborhood. See it filling the region in which you reside and then beyond into the country, then whole globe and finally out into the cosmos. And as the energy flows, see the flowers bloom, hear the birds sing, feel the kiss of a gentle breeze. See the power of Universal Love carried in the arms of Reiki Energy, Energy of Source; touch and caress everything, everyone, and everywhere. See all illness, all disease, all abuse, and all pain, as a dark cloud evaporate, dissolve, transform. 3. Do this for 5 to 15 minutes each day before each study period. You may also wish to meditate, to express gratitude as each day ends. As we are attuned to each level, you may wish to draw (in your mind or in the air) the power symbol or symbols you have learned for each level. Some variations you may wish to try are: Listen to soft, inspiring music Chant a mantra Write a goal and ask for clarification to come to you through the sitting session Ask for guidance to come to you about an issue you are currently experiencing. I believe you will find continuing to use this meditation daily after the initial 21 day period will be very beneficial and enjoyable.
