20 GAS INTERNATIONAL OCTOBER 2011 NATURAL GAS TO SAICA Future Energy Group (FEG), have been successfully appointed by Spain’s leading corrugated packaging company (SAICA) to design, construct and commission the 32 bar(g) natural gas supply pipeline, Class 300 filter meter unit and associated downstream pipework. Natural Gas to SAICA About 400,000 tons of lightweight 100% recycled paper will be manufactured at the plant for use in corrugated packaging. The Paper Mill is to be powered by Combined Heat & Power Engines, to be fuelled by Natural Gas with a requisite inlet pressure to the Turbine/CHP units of 28 bar(g). The SAICA project provides FEG with a fantastic opportunity to deliver their considerable engineering expertise and niche skills-base, in addition to providing the requisite maintenance services. National Grid (Gas) has already provided a minimum connection from a 36” diameter Pipeline (32 bar(g) MOP) within Partington gas storage site and Future Energy Group has constructed the inlet pipeline to stringent National Grid adoption standards. Horizontal Directional Drilling (no dig) has been utilised in the crossing of a major thoroughfare to eliminate any possible disruption to traffic on a busy commuter route. The inlet pipeline terminates within the boundary of the new SAICA Paper Mill at a facility to filter and meter the gas supply. A further downstream pipeline, owned and operated by SAICA, has been constructed. This section of pipeline takes the gas supply to the Combined Heat and Power unit through a pressure control and monitoring facility, which includes the facility to compress the gas to a higher pressure if required. Energy Services and Solutions (UK) Ltd (ESS) ESS handles the major construction for natural gas pipelines, offering both turnkey project management and individual solutions covering design, construction, project management, operation, maintenance, de-commissioning and demolition. The company specialise in pressurised Gas Systems and Pressure Regulation, holding Lloyds accreditation for ‘Hot Tap’ <85bar(g) ‘Complex’ natural gas connections. The engineering expertise in FMS and ESS is provided by a core team of Managers, Engineers and Technicians with extensive experience and knowledge of the UK Gas Industry. Specialist Design Engineers, Constructions Engineers and Consultants support this core team. All of our employees recognise the importance of providing our clients with a singular point of contact and will always strive to lever the maximum financial benefit by the provision of a seamless and reputable professional service. FMS is a stand-alone Company residing within the Future Energy Group, specialising in Meter Asset Management including the installation and maintenance of associated pressure control and ancillary equipment. The Company offers ‘the comprehensive one-stop shop’ for all engineering requirements in relation to either a new or an existing natural gas supply. We specialise in providing innovative solutions that assist our clients to deliver a safe, efficient and affordable supply of natural gas. Future Energy Group (FEG), have been successfully appointed by Spain’s leading corrugated packaging company (SAICA) to design,

construct and commission the 32 bar(g) natural gas supply pipeline, Class 300 filter meter unit and associated downstream pipework.

Natural Gas to SAICA

About 400,000 tons of lightweight 100% recycled paper will be manufactured at the plant for use in corrugated packaging.
