MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
AREVA T&D’s WS is a fully gas-insulated switchgear equipment with ratings up to 36 kV, 2500 A and31.5 kA. It is a fixed switchgear design incorporating a vacuum circuit breaker with a three-positionswitch in series.
This field-proven switchgear offers a comprehensive range of functions and features and is available assingle busbar (WSA) or double busbar (WSB) unit, both with the same small footprint. Consequently, WSspace-saving modular design allows the reduction of the overall substations dimensions, the easy replacement of old switchboards in an existing building as well as the integration in a containerized substation. Moreover, the modular concept makes it possible to dismantle the circuit breaker with the busbars live.
WS ensures user-friendly and safeoperation, giving reliable operationstatus thanks to a clear mimic diagramintegrating mechanical positions andinterrogating interlocks.
WS meets the requirements of IEC,EN and the national provisions of theabove international standards.

MODULAR DESIGN OF WSA AND WSB
In addition to the benefits of small footprint anddemountable circuit breaker, the modular design givesyou the opportunity to optimize your initial investmentwhile equipping the switchboard with spare panels.At any time in the future, these spare panels can bequickly completed by adding circuit breaker and lowvoltage modules, without the need to shutdown theswitchboard.
HIGH LEVEL OF RELIABILITY AND SAFETY
Independence from environmental influences, corrosionresistant gas-filled metal compartments made of CrNi steeland continuous, robust mechanical interlocking systemsensure maximum operating reliability and operator safety.The gas-insulated switchgear WS has been designed asa sealed pressure system to IEC 60694. Thus, it will notbe necessary to refill the compartment with gas duringthe operating life of the switchgear.

FAST REPLACEMENT OF OLD SWITCHGEAR
If you are replacing switchboards in an existing substationyou can often take advantage of the small footprint of WS.By installing WS in the corridor in front of the old switchboard, you can quickly transfer the cables from theold switchboard to the new WS switchboard with the minimum downtime and cost.
