GENERAL INFORMATION OF G.I.S
Gas insulated substation is a substation that uses sulphur hexafluoride gases (SF6).High voltage current carrying parts are within a metal enclosure and are having co-centric configuration.The space between the conductor and enclosure filled with SF6 gas and moderate pressure.

PURPOSE OF SEMINAR
Our main purpose for this Seminar is to be familiar with G.I.S (Gas Insulated Substation)equipment as well as to aware students for the precaution required in field work to avoid the accidents.

WHAT WE LEARN?
We start our seminar at 10 A.M onwards at Om Engineering College, Junagadh. Mr. Merchant Aliraza S. (Student of5th Semester Electrical Engineering) taking this session and share his valuable knowledge with us.

High Cost Compared To Conventional Substation
Excessive Damages In Case Of Internal Fault
It Takes Very Long Time For Repairing Of Internal Fault
SF6 Gas Should Be Monitored In Each Compartments
Reduction In Pressure Of SF6 Gas In Any Compartment Results In Fault
SF6 Causes Ozone Depletion And Global Warming

CONCLUSION
Since Only the Department of Electrical Engineering of Om Engineering
College has the permission to visit the Gas Insulated Substation near Rajkot, By
conducting this Seminar, students got brief idea regarding how to make
effective technical knowledge improvement on gas insulated Substation. This
will be beneficial to students as well as faculties. This seminar will be helpful to
student for getting job in industry because industry first requirement is
knowledge. Around 68 students were benefited and the faculty members of
electrical department has attended this seminar and got the knowledge about
the G.I.S.
