will find multiple files. Some arethe embroidery files, and theothers are dieline files markedwith the letters "DL". Dielines areused to cut the fabric to thecorrect shape and size.

Open and print each dieline fileusing embroidery software. If youdo not have embroidery software,Wilcom TrueSizer is a freeprogram to use.

Spray the back side of the printeddielines with temporary adhesive, and smooth them onto the rightside of the appropriate fabrics.

Cut the dieline shapes out of theadhered fabric, and remove thepaper dielines.

For the beard, spray and placethe printed dieline on the wrongside of the faux fur.

Then cut out the shape, andgently pull or wipe away theloose faux fur that has been cutloose.

Now that the fabric pieces areready, hoop a piece of tear-awaystabilizer tightly. Madeira E-ZeeTear 1.5 oz. or Floriani TearawayMedium are good choices. Thosebrands are more fibrous, lesspaper-like, and will tear morecleanly.

Load the back embroidery file(file "a") onto the machine, andbegin to embroider the design. The first thing to sew will be the"body dieline". This marks thearea on the stabilizer where thefabric piece will be placed.

Remove the hoop from themachine, but do not unhoop thestabilizer.

Spray the back of the body piecewith temporary adhesive, andsmooth it in place right inside thesewn dieline.

Reattach the hoop on themachine, and continueembroidering the design.

A tackdown stitch will sew next. This binds the fabric piece to thestabilizer for the remainder of thedesign.

Remove the hoop from themachine again, spray the wrongside of the hat with temporaryadhesive, and smooth the hatpiece into place inside of thesewn dieline. Then embroider the"hat tackdown".

Once the embroidery is finishedsewing, trim or tear away theexcess stabilizer from around theback piece.

Once the back (file "a") iscompleted, hoop another piece oftear-away stabilizer, and load thefront (file "b") onto the machine.

The first thing to sew will be the"body dieline". Spray and placethe body inside the sewn dieline, and embroider the "bodytackdown" as well as the "bearddieline".

Before sewing the "beardtackdown, spray the back side ofthe beard with temporaryadhesive and smooth it intoplace.

Then cut a piece of light-weightwater soluble stabilizer, and tapeit in place over the beard piece.

This stabilizer helps the stitchingsit on top of the faux fur andprevents the embroidery footfrom being caught in the fabric.

Then place the hoop back on themachine, and embroider the"beard tackdown".

Continue the design, andembroider the "hat dieline". Sprayand place the fabric over the topedge of the body and beard. Then embroider the "hattackdown" step.

Now that all the fabric pieces arein place, follow the color changesheet, and embroider the innerdetails of the design. Stop beingsewing the "finishing seam".

Spray the right side of the back ofthe gnome (file "a") withtemporary adhesive, and smoothit into place on top of the frontside (file "b") with right sidestogether.

Then carefully remove thestabilizer from the back side ofthe front piece of the design togive it more flexibility.

Using the point of a seam rippercan help to pull up the pieces ofstabilizer.

Then repeat to remove thestabilizer from the back side ofthe back piece as well.

After the stabilizer is removed, turn the gnome right side out.Trimming notches or slits into theseam allowance along the curvescan help with turning.
