Two of the new members, Kate Christopherson and Brittainy Kinsey, gave up two of their days at Mardi Gras and traveled to Dallas to represent the chapter at the sororities’ regional leadership conference. At the conference they were able to met girls from all of the chapters in region three. The ladies brought back many great ideas to better advance Epsilon Mu. Both Kate and Brittainy were very glad and honored that they were able to attend and cannot wait to get more involved in the future.

Recruitment

Recruitment was also a huge success this year! Formal Recruitment and the COB events went extremely well and the chapter picked up seventeen beautiful new members! All of the new girls have been working hard during their new member meetings under the wonderful leadership of Mignon May and Samantha Fenimore, and everyone is looking forward to initiation on March 1st.

Intramurals

The ladies have just started the intramural basketball season; in their first game they beat Delta Gamma 50-16!! Looks like the girls are off to a great start.

Sisterhood Events

Sisterhood events that the chapter has taken part in have included a trip down to the Tabasco Plant, a movie day, tanning at the Fly on the banks of the Mississippi, and a secret Santa exchange. All of which had huge turnouts, and were lots of fun!

All of the sisters are excited about the up-coming Greek Week activities during the last week of March. The new members have even already begun preparing for the “Air Band” part of the competition. Come out and support the girls if you are in the area!!

The women of Gamma Phi Beta have been very active this semester getting involved in community service. This semester alone so far we have had girls working on houses that were destroyed during Hurricane Katrina in Mid-city, volunteering in a local nursing home, and helping to raise money to build a chapel in a all woman’s Louisiana prison. The Chapter was also able to donate $100 to our Philanthropy by winning a banner and tee-shirt design competition put on by SGA. Epsilon Mu’s philanthropic endeavors have been a huge success thanks to everyone’s help.
