…and Organizations have been trying out gamification for effective engagement
70% of Forbes Global 2000 companies will use gamification to boost engagement
retention and revenues
Deloitt adopts Gamification for leadership training using badges, leaderboards and status thus reducing
the time to certification by 50 percent.
Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems face a similar adoption and usage challenge. The
harsh reality – 50 percent of all CRM implementations fail. Badgeville implemented a “Big Game Hunter”
program for Salesforce to increase usage and engagement with the system. Sales people started out at
“Chicken Hunters” and worked their way up to bigger and bigger game statuses, as they utilized more and
more of the CRM system’s features. For one customer, compliance increased over 40 percent.
Bunchball worked with the Ford Motor company in Canada to help add gamification to its learning portals
to assist sales and services teams that must become familiar with new car models, financing plans,
technologies and options every year. Ford's learning portal saw a 417 percent increase in use and its
younger audiences
Zichermann's group worked with Omnicare to develop a game wherein the reps are given a challenge at
the beginning of every shift and they set up a series of achievements that reps could reach. The results were
- Time in their waiting queue was halved, customer satisfaction went back up and employee turnover was
down.

.. and building a right enablement & adoption approach (Contd…)
Identify the key metrics that the game is going to address and the type of audience – one size
does not fit all. For e.g. if Team building is the focus then the games need to be developed with the
same perspective
Identify the target Audience/ Players for the same and build a complete analysis including
demographics of the players. Since majority of play elements are governed by the age-group of
players therefore the same is critical for building engaging games
Have the right stakeholders and design experts (visual and gaming) interact through the ideation and
storyboarding process. Depending on the Pattern of the game a Gaming Engine has to be developed
that can be used by majority of applications by changing the visual interactions
Building a Platform that addresses the employee engagement parameters mapped to the following key
aspects of a gaming - Mechanics, Measurement, Rewards & Behavior
Create a Game factory setup with the right infrastructure, SMEs and then a pool of shared resources that
would (a) Transform the Idea brought in by business into a gaming scenario and then(b) develop gaming
solutions for the same by deploying the right tools & resources within the factory
Plug-in Features like Polling and feedback to ensure that usage data is analyzed and mapped
to performance parameter changes. Based on the movement effective change management to
the same can also be achieved

Training &
Learning
• Scenario / Case based questions that requires configuration and
solution like in salesforce, TOGAF etc.
• Behavioral skills where team interactions and customer management
skills are required like in EM Training
• Performance measurement for activities could be build as part of gaming especially in
case of methodologies like agile / devops, thus ensuring there is thrill and reward in
overall completion
• The yearly performance could help win people lifeline / batches that they can use in
the years of low performance, also they could share it with others for helping them in
the years of despair
Performance
Measurement
• In the IT world everybody is chasing knowledge, but cannot qualify what
would be best for them, a game like candy crush wherein based on goals
like I wanted to be a CRM expert a person identifies the best path of
trainings and downfalls to achieve his goal
Knowledge
Management
• Multiple health games that could assess one’s level of stress ,
concentration etc. could be built
• Games that would enable learning of health tips could be deployed
• Games that relieve stress and make people relax from their mundane work
could be designed
Health
Management
• A leaderboard game that would increase employee referrals
• A game that would make the induction a more entertaining experience and
people would be able to understand the org structure etc. better
• The recruitment teams could end up building a league with they all fighting
league matches
