Shark BytesESHELMAN DOMINANT IN 10-INNING DEFEAT: Thomas Eshelman sailed through sevenshutdown innings in his second start for Clearwater, but the Charlotte Stone Crabs managed tosqueeze past the Threshers, 1-0 in ten innings on Wednesday afternoon.

Eshelman took a no-decision after breezing through seven shutout frames. The right-handerscattered two hits - both singles - and two walks, while striking out four. He kept his pitch countin check throughout the start, and needed only 77 pitches - 55 strikes.

The lone run scored in the tenth, when Charlotte’s Alec Sole dropped a two-out double to left-center to plate Grant Kay.

STARTING STRONG: Threshers starting pitching continues to ba a strong point after Eshelman went a career-high seven shutout innings on Wednesday.

In the past five games, starters have surrendered just five runs on 18 hits across 28 innings - a1.61 ERA. Ranfi Casimiro, Elniery Garcia, Tyler Viza, Will Morris, and Eshelman have eachgone at least five innings and allowed three runs or less. They have combined to strike out 22batters while issuing just six walks.

WE’VE GOT YOU COVERED: The Threshers’ outfield came up with two clutch defensive gemslate in yesterday’s ballgame.

In the ninth inning, Carlos Tocci made a diving grab in left-centerfield to rob Cristian Toribio witha man on and nobody out. An inning later, Cord Sandberg - who entered the game as a defensive replacement - ran down a gap-shot in left-centerfield to take away extra bases fromCade Gotta.

In the series opener, Sandberg’s outfield assist on a Gotta liner to left erased the tying run fromthe basepaths in Clearwater’s 4-3 win.
