THE BABY CAKES – e New Orleans Baby Cakes conclude their nine- game road trip with the rubber match of a five-game set in Memphis. e ‘Cakes have split the first four of the series, aſter doing the same in a four- game series with Memphis in New Orleans earlier in the year, and will visit Memphis again in 20 days. NOLA won nine of 16 last year against the Redbirds and split the eight games in e Bluff City. YESTERDAY’S NEWS – One out away from claiming a pair of victories at AutoZone Park, the Baby Cakes saw Adolis Garcia smack a two-run homer to give Memphis a 4-3 win late Tuesday night. Aſter the ‘Cakes held on to win the continuation of Monday’s rain-suspended game, 4-3, New Orleans grabbed a quick 2-0 advantage in the nightcap on Rosell Herrera’s two-RBI double in the opening frame. Emergency starter Brian Moran held Memphis scoreless for three innings, and Jeff Kinley wiggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth before the Redbirds broke through in the fiſth. Garcia singled home their first run to cash in Randy Arozarena’s leadoff single, and Justin Williams evened the score on a grounder up the middle. Isan Diaz blasted his 20th home run of the season with one out in the top of the sixth to put New Orleans back in front. Kyle Keller was called upon for the six-out save and retired the Redbirds in order in the sixth, but issued a leadoff walk to Arozarena in the seventh ahead of Garcia’s home run. ON THE HILL – Robert Dugger toes the slab for his third Triple-A start, coming off his first win at the level last time out. Dugger allowed seven runs (all earned) on 10 hits in 5.0 innings on Friday at Oklahoma City, but received nine runs of support to earn the victory. It was the most runs allowed by a NOLA starter in a winning effort since Jeremy Guthrie surrendered eight in a win at Colorado Springs on July 3, 2016, and one shy of Ben Meyer’s eight allowed on June 22 for the most by a ‘Cakes starter this season. Dugger was not involved in the decision in his debut on June 23 vs. Nashville, holding the Sounds to two runs on five hits in 5.1 innings. He posted a 2.30 ERA across his final seven starts for AA Jacksonville. FOR STARTERS – e Baby Cakes’ starting rotation ranks second in the PCL with a 3.96 ERA (San Antonio, 3.88) and opponents average (.241), and continues to hold the top mark in WHIP (1.22) while working 446.0 innings, 14.1 more than second-place Iowa. e group’s 458 strikeouts are 10 behind Single-A Lexington for the most in the minors, and 57 ahead of Iowa in the PCL. e starters are on pace for 754 strikeouts, which would set a club record, surpassing the 2012 squad (645). SAVE US – e Baby Cakes tallied their first save in July in game one, and their first blown save of the month in game two. New Orleans led the PCL with 12 saves in June, while also blowing seven, one behind El Paso for the most. e ‘Cakes lead the league in both saves (27) and blown saves (19). R.J. Alvarez’s 12th save ties him with Reno’s Jimmie Sherfy for second-most in the PCL, two behind Nashville’s David Carpenter. STEAL AWAY – New Orleans has swiped 93 bags this season, second in the PCL (Tacoma, 95). e five stolen bases on Friday matched a season high, accomplished four times. New Orleans led the league in both steals (35) and caught stealings (13) in June. NOLA is on pace for 153 stolen bases, which would rank third in team history behind 1994 (187) and 2006 (168). DIAZZLING – Isan Diaz has homered in four of his last five games to boost his season total to 20, tying his career high set in 2016 with Low-A Wisconsin. e mark ties for sixth in the PCL and makes him the first NOLA player to hit 20 in a season since Xavier Scruggs hit 21 in 2016. He previously homered in five straight games, May 22-26, to set a new franchise record. Diaz scored his 67th and 68th runs, pulling away from Las Vegas’s Jorge Mateo for the most in the league. In 47 games since May 11, he’s hit .353 (53x167) with 17 home runs, 11 doubles, 39 RBI and 45 runs, raising his season average to from .217 to .296. STARS OF THE FUTURE – Along with his PCL All-Star recognition, Isan Diaz will be joining Monté Harrison at the SiriusXM Futures Game in Cleveland. ey will be the first NOLA representatives at the showcase since Logan Morrison went in 2010, and fourth and fiſth overall (Chris Burke in 2004 and Lance Berkman in 1999). Joining Diaz and Harrison from the Marlins organization is the team’s No. 1 prospect, RHP Sixto Sanchez, who is currently in AA Jacksonville. LONELIEST NUMBER – e ‘Cakes played their 28th and 29th one-run games, tied with Fresno for second-most in the league (Sacramento, 31). e walk-off loss gave the ‘Cakes their 19th one-run defeat, four more than any other PCL team. 2019 SeasonLAST TIME OUT – A! er receiving nine runs of support, Dugger earned his " rst Triple-A win in his second start on 6/28 at Oklahoma City, despite giving up seven runs on 10 hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Dugger exited a! er allowing back-to-back doubles then a single to begin the sixth inning. It was the most runs allowed by a NOLA starter in a winning e# ort since Jeremy Guthrie gave up eight runs in a win at Colorado Springs on July 3, 2016.

SLOW START – Dugger lost the " rst four games he started for AA Jacksonville, and " ve of the " rst six. In his initial four-game losing streak, he pitched to a 6.60 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP and 16 strikeouts in 15.0 innings. In his second start on 4/11, he allowed singles to the " rst two hitters of the game, the second of which de$ ected o# Dugger’s shoulder and forced him to be removed from the game.

HIGH FIVE – With victories in " ve consecutive starts from 5/8-5/30, Dugger established a new career high winning streak, surpassing a four-game run with Jacksonville over a " ve-start stretch from July 30-August 21, 2018.

DIRTY DOZEN – Dugger struck out a career-high 12 hitters on 5/13 vs. Biloxi, his second double-digit strikeout performance, joining a 10-strikeout e# ort on August 21, 2018 vs. Birmingham. He retired the " rst 13 batters he faced, including seven via strikeout, and fanned the side in the " ! h inning. Dugger did not issue a walk in 7.0 innings en route to earning his third win of the year.

WHAT A WEEK – Dugger followed his 12-strikeout game by blanking Montgomery over 7.0 frames on 5/18, yielding only four hits, and was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week, the " rst weekly honor of his career. He fanned 17 and yielded just eight hits in 14.0 innings across two assignments.

LUCKY SEVENS – Over his " nal seven starts for the Jumbo Shrimp, Dugger went 5-1 with a 2.30 ERA, going at least 5.0 innings in each and reaching 7.0 four times.
