The Dish Our client, a leader in the event transportation management industry, contacted Adecco to review staffing capabilities for the then-upcoming 2013 Super Bowl in New Orleans. The client’s invitation to bid initially sought to award contracts for special event staff to multiple temporary staffing firms. Our bid, with economies-of-scale pricing, negotiated Adecco as the supplier for all 468 special event positions. In late November 2012, the client awarded all of the event staff positions to Adecco.

Pre-Heat Adecco first hosted a conference with our client to finalize job descriptions. Then, our recruiting team developed a plan to staff the positions.

 Our first strategy: Create a buzz about the opportunity. The team:

Within one week, NFL credentialing was in action for 130 associates for the top positions.

Contacted thousands of candidates in our database

Called upon our clients for referrals

Announced the top 130 positions to a select group of candidates

Invited the group to open house events, where we:

Collected data and ID badge photos from qualified candidates

Distributed flyers for attendees to share with friends

Candidates with whom we had established relationships spread the word to their trusted contacts. The result: Within one week, NFL credentialing was in action for 130 associates for the top positions.

Bring to a Boil For special events, everything must boil simultaneously. Behind the scenes, our team validated applications, administered required testing and completed background checks such as E-Verify. At the same time, we continued our recruiting strategy — the Super Bowl Countdown. The countdown included:

Staying in touch with associates progressing through the credentialing process, advising them of progress

Posting a sizzling job ad, inviting the people of New Orleans to participate in this historic event

Sending automated messages to candidates in our database, expanding the applicant pool

Hosting job fairs, attracting candidates and referrals To temper recruiting efforts, we monitored our in-branch progress to meet or exceed a weekly goal. Applications continued to steep, and we continued to screen candidates. We also communicated regularly with our client and our associates, with increasing check-in calls as the Super Bowl approached. First we stirred weekly, then daily and finally hourly, as associate training and start dates were in effect. Within four weeks, Adecco had filled all 468 positions for the Super Bowl.
