Kansas City holds a 54-47-0 (.535) all-time advantage over Denver in the 101 previous meetings between the two clubs (100 regular season, one postseason). The 54 Chiefs wins against the Broncos ties for the club’s highest win total against any individual opponent as the Chiefs have also beaten AFC West foe Oakland 54 times. The Broncos recorded a 49-29 victory at INVESCO Field (11/14). Kansas City is seeking to avoid being swept by the Broncos for the fi rst time since 2007 when the Broncos registered a 27-11 win at Arrowhead (11/10/07) and a 41-7 triumph at INVESCO Field. The Chiefs posted a 44-24 win in the fi nal game of the 2009 season at Denver (1/3/10). That win snapped an eight-game losing streak in Denver and marked the Chiefs fi rst victory at INVESCO Field.

Denver won the most recent meeting between the two squads at Arrowhead by a 44-13 margin (12/6/09). However, the Broncos haven’t won back-to-back games in KC since taking four straight from ’76-79. The Chiefs have won 14 of the last 20 regular season meetings between these two clubs at Arrowhead, including 11 of the last 15 contests. Kansas City’s most recent season sweep of Denver came in 2000. The two clubs have split their season series six of the last seven seasons. Including two games at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas in ’61 and ’62, the Chiefs own a stellar 17-2 (.895) home record against the Broncos all-time in the month of December, including a 12-2 mark at Arrowhead. The Broncos produced a 14-10 victory in the only postseason meeting between the two teams, a ’97 AFC Divisional Playoff Game at Arrowhead (1/4/98).

The Chiefs are seeking their eighth victory of the season and will attempt to push their record at the New Arrowhead to a perfect 6-0 as Kansas City hosts Denver on Sunday (12/5). Kansas City joins Atlanta, Baltimore and New England as the only remaining undefeated teams at home this season. Kansas City remains atop the AFC West standings after a 42-24 win at Seattle (11/28) and is aiming to extend its victory streak to three games. Denver is looking to snap a two-game losing streak after suffering a 36-33 loss vs. St. Louis (11/28). Denver is one of fi ve clubs to face a stretch of three consecutive road games this season. The Broncos begin their three-game road trip on Sunday. The Chiefs are hoping to avenge a 49-29 loss at INVESCO Field (11/14). KC leads the NFL, allowing a mere 13.4 ppg in its initial fi ve home contests. The Chiefs are the only squad that has surrendered 20 points or less in all of their home contests. KC has the fewest giveaways (8) in the league and currently leads the NFL in rushing (174.3 ypg) and rushing differential (+77.8 ypg). The Chiefs allowed 20 rushing yards, while racking up 270 rushing yards at Seattle (11/28), marking the fi fth time the Chiefs have topped the 200-yard plateau this season. RB Jamaal Charles has 1,021 ground yards, topping the 1,000-yard mark in fewer carries than any other back in KC history. RB Thomas Jones has 9,971 career rushing yards and needs 71 more to become the 25th player in NFL history to hit the 10,000-yard plateau. RBs LaDainian Tomlinson and Fred Taylor are the only active players in that elite club. QB Matt Cassel and WR Dwayne Bowe are arguably the NFL’s hottest battery. Cassel threw for a career-high 469 yards and four TDs at Denver (11/14). Cassel registered a 233-yard, four-TD performance with a 129.3 rating at Seattle (11/28), giving him his third straight 100.0-rating game. Cassel has 22 TDs and four INTs, the NFL’s second-best TD/INT differential behind QB Tom Brady (+19). Bowe’s 14 TD catches are a single-season team record as are his seven straight games with a TD catch. Bowe is seeking to tie a team record with a fourth straight 100-yard game. He produced 13 catches for 186 yards at Denver (11/14). Last week at Seattle (11/28) he joined WRs Jerry Rice and Jimmy Smith as just the third player since ’90 to produce a 13-catch, 170-yard, three-TD performance. Against the Seahawks, Bowe (170 rec. yards) and Charles (173 rush yards) became the fi rst pair of teammates in NFL history to register 170+ rushing and receiving yards in the same game. Next week Kansas City travels to San Diego (12/12), while Denver is at Arizona (12/12).

The Chiefs lost by a 49-29 margin to the Denver Broncos at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Despite falling behind 35-0 in the contest, the Chiefs battled back to register 484 yards of total offense. QB Matt Cassel registered a career-high 469 passing yards. WR Dwayne Bowe finished the game with a career-high 13 catches for 186 yards and two TDs. Denver won the toss and on the Broncos fourth play from scrimmage QB Kyle Orton hit WR Brandon Lloyd between two Chiefs defenders for a 37-yard pickup to KC’s 31. On second and 10 from the Chiefs 17-yard line Orton hit RB Knowshon Moreno out of the backfield who scampered into the end zone, giving Denver an early 7-0 lead. The Broncos added 14 more points before the end of the first quarter with two TD passes by Orton. The first went to WR Brandon Lloyd on a quick slant and the second a 40-yard pass to an outstretched Gaffney for a TD. The Chiefs elected to review the play, but the instant replay system was inoperable so the ruling on the field of a TD stood, giving the Broncos a 21-0 lead. The Chiefs offense got into a groove, but a sack by LB Mario Haggan forced KC to attempt a 52-yard FG from K Ryan Succop that sailed wide right. Eight plays later QB Tim Tebow bootlegged into the end zone from one-yard out advancing Denver’s lead to 28-0. KC’s offense drove to Denver’s eight-yard line on its ensuing possession before Cassel was sacked by Haggan and stripped of the football. LB Jason Hunter recovered the ball and took it 75 yards for a TD, moving Denver’s lead to 35-0. Kansas City’s offense put together a late scoring drive near the end of the half set up by a 38-yard pass to WR Verran Tucker. Two plays later Cassel connected with RB Jamaal Charles for a five-yard TD, cutting Denver’s lead to 35-7. The Broncos received the ball with 1:22 to play before intermission. The Broncos attempted a 58-yard FG with 0:18 to play but K Matt Prater’s attempt fell short and S Eric Berry returned it 87 yards to Denver’s 22-yard line. Succop put through a 40-yard FG to cut Denver’s lead to 35-10 at intermission. Kansas City had possession to open the second half, but was forced to punt. The Broncos then orchestrated a 10-play, 60-yard drive culminating with a Tebow three-yard TD pass to FB Spencer Larsen, upping Denver’s advantage to 42-10. The Chiefs put together a quick scoring drive capped when Cassel hit Bowe for a 15-yard TD pass, putting the score at 42-17. The Broncos answered right back with a TD of their own when Orton connected with Lloyd in the corner of the end zone from 15 yards out, but it was ruled incomplete. A review showed Lloyd got both feet down giving the Broncos a 49-17 lead with 11:55 remaining. Faced with fourth and goal from the 11-yard line Cassel hit WR Chris Chambers on a post route but failed to convert a two-point attempt making the score 49-23 Denver. The Chiefs attempted an onside kick but the Broncos recovered. The ball exchanged hands as the clock winded down. Cassel found Bowe for his second TD catch of the game from 22 yards out with 0:15 to play. The two-point conversion failed leaving the final score at 49-29.

GAME NOTES• WR Dwayne Bowe posted a TD catch in his fifth consecutive game, tying E Chris Burford and WR Otis Taylor for the longest streak in franchise history. • P Dustin Colquitt and Denver P Britton Colquitt became the first known pair of brothers to punt against each other in the same game in NFL history.• QB Matt Cassel produced 469 passing yards, the second-highest single-game total in team history. QB Matt Cassel set career highs in completions

(33), attempts (53) and passing yards (469).

The Chiefs controlled the tempo throughout the day at Qwest Field and tallied a 21-point fourth quarter as they registered a convincing 42-24 win over the Seahawks. Kansas City held a 41:03 to 18:57 advantage in the time of possession battle and outgained the Seahawks 503 to 288 in total offense. The Chiefs tallied 270 rushing yards and allowed only 20 yards rushing from Seattle.

WR Dwayne Bowe tied a career high with 13 receptions, registering 170 receiving yards and three TDs. Cassel completed 22 of 32 passes for 233 yards and tied a career high with four TDs and no interceptions, good for a 129.3 QB rating. RB Jamaal Charles eclipsed the 100-yard plateau with 22 carries for 173 yards and a TD.

Kansas City took a 7-0 lead on the opening drive as Cassel completed four of five passes, including a seven-yard TD pass to Bowe capping a seven-play, 72-yard drive. On the Chiefs second possession K Ryan Succop's 43-yard FG was blocked giving the Seahawks the ball on their own 38-yard line, but Seattle couldn’t take advantage.

On the Chiefs next possession Seattle CB Kennard Cox blocked P Dustin Colquitt’s punt. Seattle S Earl Thomas returned the ball for a TD, tying the game at 7-7. Kansas City answered with a 15-play drive that ate 8:13 off the clock. On third and goal from the one, DT Shaun Smith bulled his way into the end zone as a short-yardage FB to put the Chiefs up 14-7.

Kansas City added to its lead when Cassel found a wide-open Bowe streaking down the right sideline for a 36-yard TD to put the Chiefs up 21-7 with 1:12 left to play in the first half. S Kendrick Lewis recorded his first career interception as he picked off a QB Matt Hasselbeck pass. However a fumble on KC’s second offensive play set up K Olindo Mare for a 43-yard FG as time expired in the first half to make the score 21-10 in favor of the Chiefs.

Seattle came out of the gate quickly in the second half as Hasselbeck hit WR Ben Obomanu for a 52 yard gain to the Kansas City 19 yard-line. Hasselbeck then found TE Chris Baker for a 13-yard TD pass making the score 21-17.

It was punt for punt until the Chiefs offense struck again. Facing third and inches from the three-yard line, Charles stiff-armed a Seattle defender and bolted into the end zone to put the Chiefs up 28-17 with 14:54 left to play. On the Seahawks next drive, LB Derrick Johnson sacked Hasselbeck and forced a fumble that was recoverd by LB Tamba Hali at the Seattle 24-yard line setting up Bowe’s third TD catch of the game, a nine-yard strike to put the Chiefs up 35-17.

CB Travis Daniels stepped in front of a Hasselbeck pass for an interception and returned it to the Kansas City 36-yard line. The Chiefs were forced to punt after the takeaway. On the first play after the punt, Hasselbeck connected with Obomanu for an 87-yard TD reception to make the score 35-24 with 10:16 left in the contest. After the Seattle score, Cassel found TE Tony Moeaki for a six-yard TD, his fourth TD pass of the day, making the final count 42-24.

GAME NOTES• WR Dwayne Bowe (14) surpassed E Chris Burford (12 in '62) for the highest single-season TD reception total in KC history. He also extended his streak of consecutive games with a TD catch to seven straight contests.• RB Jamaal Charles Charles became the third back in team history to register back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons.• DT Shaun Smith became only the second player to record a sack and a rushing TD in the same game. The other was William “the Refrigerator” Perry vs. Atlanta on Nov. 24, 1985.

QB Matt Cassel and WR Dwayne Bowe connect for three TD passes.
