Candidate Business Profile
At Four Courts Press, I created and delivered marketing and communications strategies, building the company brand
internationally. It grew from being a small book publisher to Ireland’s largest academic publishing house with turnover of
€1.4 million. I developed the first e-commerce platform for any Irish publisher or bookshop and was featured in the Irish
Independent in December 2004 as a case study for online business success. In September 20015, the website was
short listed for a Golden Spider Award.
In 2006, after completing a project with a start-up publishing firm to create their sales, distribution and marketing plan, I
was contracted by New Island Books to manage their brand, marketing and promotion activities. I created and delivered
a Communications and PR campaign which saw five titles listed in the top 100 Irish bestsellers.
From 2007-2010, I coordinated marketing for Greyhound Recycling, including company re-branding. In 2009, I was
central to delivering the multi-million Euro Dublin ‘Green Bin’ recycling contract. I created and managed www.greenbin.ie
that handled over 5000 daily visitors. I liaised with government departments including Environment, Heritage & Local
Government, and coordinated Greyhound’s bid responses to public and private tenders, acquiring contracts with
companies such as the Dublin Airport Authority, CRH Group plc and Allied Irish Banks plc.
From 2010 to February 2014, I worked for Escher Group, the world’s largest supplier of digital point-of-service software
to the postal industry. In conjunction with the Executive Vice President for Marketing, I delivered the company’s global
marketing and communication strategy. In 2011, the company delivered its IPO and in October 2012, Escher Group won
‘Best newcomer’ at the annual AIM Awards ceremony, London Stock Exchange.
In July 2013, I relocated to Moville, Donegal, as my wife was appointed Methodist Minister for Inishowen. In a voluntary
capacity, I co-founded the Wee Greenway Initiative to deliver segregated cycling infrastructure for Derry and Inishowen.
In September 2016, INTERREG announced funding of 14€m for the project. As an avid cyclist and walker, I have been
an advocate of a more balanced pro-environmental transport strategy. I am also the Public Relations Officer for Foyle
Cycling Club, the second largest club in Ulster, coordinating all the club’s marketing and social media campaigns to
promote events.
Since January 2015, I have worked for Newspread, a subsidiary of INM plc. After a successful year as a consultant, I
was appointed full-time in January 2016. Since then I have developed a profitable business for b2b distribution.
