Was urged into medical school by father but dropped out to study Mathematics

Had 3 children out of wedlock with Marina Gamba.

Galileo considered 2 daughters unmarriageable because of the wedlock and sent them to convent.

AcomplishmentsMade telescope 3x the magnification of the previous one created by Hans Lippershey.Later created telescope 30x better then the first.Found 3 out of the 4 moons orbiting Jupiter proved that Venus orbited sunGalileo’s paradox- as many perfect squares as are whole numbers.

ReligionGalileos ideas that the sun stood stationary and the earth revolved went against the scripture.

1616 Galileo went to Rome to convince the church not to ban his work.

Galileo was imprisoned and later put on house arrest on count of "vehemently being suspect of heresy"

All Galileo’s work and anything he was to publish in the future was banned.

After lifeGalileo died at the age of 77 on January 8 1642

Pope Urban VIII protested his wished burial next to his father so he was instead laid in a small chapel at the end of a corridor

Galileo was recently selected to be on a collectors coin commemorating the 400th anniversary of the inventions of Galileo’s Telescope.
