During the Summer of 2018, I interned at an Architecture & Engineering company in Florence, Italy. My daily tasks included transferring an existing structure from AutoCAD into Revit 2018 while adding new changes to the existing building. I focused heavily on showing the existing and new phase changes on the project by highlighting

each phase using red and yellow lines. In addition, I created a new roof structure using wood and metal beams. The exterior details such as window treatments and exterior moulding are included in this heavily exterior detail oriented project. The existing and new phase changes included adding and taking away interior and exterior walls, windows, columns, and doors.

Located in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts, Maple Memory Care is dedicated to meeting the challenging conditions of an aging brain with a caring, interactive community designed around the individual. Every detail of color, texture, lighting and space is designed to address the primary environmental objectives recommended by The Alzheimer’s Association. This space allows for freedom of movement and promotes independence.

Maple Memory Care holds the upmost importance in the quality of life of the residents as well as the caregivers. They believe that a positive work environment leads to efficiency and productivity as well as increased quality of care of the residents. The company’s focused programming and activities promote the highest quality care for those in cognitive decline, and offers every incentive to celebrate life and find purpose in each day.

Maple trees are common in the Boston area and symbolize wisdom, balance, and strength. Maple Memory Care uses these qualities as the backbone of their company in an effort to promote these traits to their residents and employees.

NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGNWith a high level of security implimented, there are multiple activity areas which promote creativity and a sense of independence for the residents. Throughout the public areas of the building are traditional businesses which promote familiarity and comfort that tap into the long term memory of the residents.

Designed with the users in mind, Maple Memory Care’s architectural design revolves around a household & neighborhood design. This smaller scale, home-like environment features different wings of “neighborhoods” with private bedrooms centralized around a shared living-dining-kitchen space.

Located on the corner of Penn Avenue and South Negley Avenue in the Pittsburgh neighborhood of East Liberty, this 3 story hotel reflects the history, character, philosophy, goals and environment of the chosen group of astronauts throughout the underlayment of the design. Highly influenced by different elements of the universe, this design combined both natural and synthetic shapes and forms that are found throughout the cosmos.

The hotel features an outdoor space, onsite parking, a grand restaurant that is open to the public, conference rooms, break areas, a grand lobby, functional guest rooms and adequate “back of the house” spaces. This design incorporates texture, contrasting colors, deep undertones and depth. The shapes and forms throughout the architectural design is derived from universal concepts such as gravity, infinity, and constellation patterns found in space.
