She also is looking forward to other endeavors that have been put on hold be- cause of her role as Lakeside Intensive Family Empowerment (LIFE) clinical su- pervisor. Slocum is retiring May 30 from the  vari ed r oles she has held for the past 31½  year s at T ulsa Count y Dist ric t Cour t Ju-  venil e Bur eau.  Those thre e deca des have been one of constant change for Slocum who started Nov. 15, 1982 as an evening shift coun- selor in the “old” detention center on Gil- crease Museum Road. That was before an expansion was made at the facility. “I scheduled appointments for families of kids that had been brought in by police to see if the youth should be placed in de- tention or sent home,” she said. Later she switched to a day schedule.  T wo an d one h alf y ears afte r joi ning t he department Slocum was transferred to the probation division where she worked for six years.  At that time the prob atio n depa rtmen t  was divid ed into four divis ions , East side ,  Westside , Nort hsid e and Centr al. The idea was to provide a more convenient ac- cess to families.  The big cha nge came in 1990 when Slocum went to Lakeside Home at 3333 East Mohawk Boulevard to work in family therapy for the youthful residents living at the center. It already has the land under lease as  well at it s pre sent f acil ity th at wa s buil t by the Tulsa Port of Catoosa Facilities Au- thority, the port’s financing arm.  When t he new s truc ture is co mplet ed it  will beco me po rt a uthor ity prop erty. In return both bodies have agreed to not include the improvements when rental rates for both land and the present build- ing are renewed.  The port auth orit y appr oved a requ est by Matrix Service, Inc., to reassign the lease it made in March on seven acres of land to GCM (Gibraltar) Port I, L.L.C.,  whic h will be lat er subl ease d bac k to  Matr ix.  Tava Slocum smiled as she thought

ahead to going fishing and taking roadtrips with her husband Dana.She also is looking forward to other

Slocum is retiring May 30 from the vari ed roles she has held for the past 31½ years at Tulsa County District Court Ju- venil e Bureau.

Port industrial expansions approved

 Three potential industri al expansions were approved at the May meeting of theCity of Tulsa-Rogers County Port Au-thority.

 An expansion agreement was approvedfor Coveris Flexibles US, L.L.C. which

plans to build a 14,800 square foot addi-tion to its present facility at the north ofthe Tulsa Port of Catoosa.
