Study of Organic Structure

● Develop a two page spread of an organic form such as an orange, banana, tomato, or another similar form that can be opened and observed.

● Draw the form several times from different angles. ● Draw the edges of the structure using line. ● Write notes on your observations and describe the structure of its parts. ● Incorporate different media, or materials into your investigation. ● Look at the actual object in front of you carefully. Do not work from a photo or a screen.

Sketchbook Assignment Two

Study of Space

● Develop four pages of several spaces in your home, this could be parts of the same room or different rooms.

● Look at the actual space. ● Practice drawing using line and following the contour ( edge of the surfaces). ● You may add value ( lights and darks) in your studies.

Sketchbook Assignment Three

Study of A Mass Produced Object

● Develop four pages of one mass produced object such as a gatorade bottle. ● Look at the object as you work and make several drawings of its structure. ● Incorporate line and value drawings. ● Create paper cut outs of the object’s shape using newspaper or wax paper. ● Be intentional about how you compose the pages so that your investigations are visually

appealing.

Sketchbook Assignment Four A Play on Self Portraiture

● Using one page, draw something that shows me an aspect of yourself without drawing yourself ( your face or body).

● Use any media, or material that you would like. ● It can be realistic or abstract, ● Your work might be a an illustration of something you like, or an abstract design with

your favorite materials or colors. ● There are no wrong or right answers.
