IGJME is the first, focused machinery show for the gem & jewellery industry in India. It presents the latest in cutting-edge technology by leading companies in the machinery industry. The show will feature a comprehensive range of equipment, machinery and tools to meet the requirements of jewellery manufacturers, designers and retailers.

Gems and jewellery constitute one of India’s foremost business sectors comprising burgeoning exports valued at US$ 39 billion (FY 2012-13) as well as a humongous and vibrant domestic market with a value on par with the export trade. An industry of such mammoth proportions that perhaps no other country sees a greater demand for gems & jewellery machinery, equipment and technology as India does.

The diamonds produced by the country today comprise valuable large diamonds and fancy cuts in addition to the much in demand smaller stones, cementing the Indian manufacturing

industry’s position amongst the world’s best. The modern manufacturing units use cutting edge technology, including laser machines, computerized yield planning machines,

advanced bruiting lathes, diamond impregnated scaives, and more.

Forward integration into jewellery manufacturing has been a great success, averaging a growth of nearly 15-20 per cent each year over the last decade. Rapid strides have been made to achieve the highest standards of quality, integration of machinery and technology as well as design development.

IGJME is being held in Surat for the benefit of the vast number of manufacturing units located in the area. There are approximately 5,000 diamond manufacturers places like Ahmedabad, Navsari,

Amreli, Banaskantha, Bhavnagar, etc. The number of jewellery manufacturers is very large too -- the Surat SEZ has over 100 jewellery companies and Rajkot is a jewellery hub with 500 big and small units.

IGJME is, therefore, an essential show for gem & jewellery industry members who wish to keep abreast of the latest technology and advances in manufacturing, design and presentation.

From the OrganisersThe industry will welcome the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo in Surat. IGJME will bring the different technologies from different parts of the world at one place which will provide knowledge and options to the manufacturers about the latest technologies. Technology upgradation should be a continuous process based on the profit being obtained from the improvements.

Upgradation of technology is the need for every manufacturer. The SME sectors in the diamond industry manufacturing 0.25ct to 6ct diamonds are manufacturing with the same old technology. With this show they will have easy access to technology enhancement.

Technology upgradation leads to many positive developments in a manufacturing unit. It helps in speedier process, less cost of production, optimum usage of resources, etc. Further, Surat is developing as jewellery hub and this exhibition will be very helpful to this developing jewellery hub. This will definitely help India in competing with Chinese jewellery sector.

The Council is very pleased to present the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) in affiliation with the Surat Diamond Association. The expo, which is the first of its kind in the country, will feature leading international and domestic manufacturers and suppliers of machinery, technology, allied products and services such as packaging, IT & software, etc.

Although the machinery section has always been a significant part of the IIJS shows held each year, the IGJME is being organized with

the view to significantly expand the presence for the machinery manufacturers & suppliers and more importantly, present technological advancements to upgrade the manufacturing industry.

The show is expected to receive upwards of 6000 - 8,000 trade visitors comprising decision makers from the manufacturing and retail segments of gems & jewellery industry. It has also been receiving excellent response from potential participants from Turkey, Israel, and Italy amongst others, adding an international flair to the expo, besides bringing in new concepts and ideas in technology to the Indian shores.
