permanent sporting venues.
In the south plaza, the two main London
2012 venues – the Stadium and the AquaticsCentre – will be at the heart o an exciting new
visitor experience.
The north park will be home to the UK’sonly VeloPark oering a purpose-built road
cycle circuit, the Velodrome, BMX tracks
and mountain-bike trails. This is urther
complemented by the mixed-use sports acilitiesat Eton Manor – both operated by the Lee Valley
Regional Park Authority.
Together, these London 2012 venues will be the
platorm to deliver a genuine sporting legacy,encouraging excellence rom national and
international competition to local clubs and
school leagues.
They will set the tone or the Park, where the
ocus will be on active and outdoor living: sport,
recreation and play. Residents and visitors will

Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will respect, and
continue to deliver, on the ‘green’ initiativeso the Games, aiming to create a sustainable
development that is in tune with the world’s
changing climate and resource needs.
Using the best o the Games’ inrastructure,
innovation and inspiration, the Park will
provide a new blueprint or 21st centurysustainable city living.
Residents and visitors will be encouraged
to cycle and walk, using the bike routes and
pathways that cover the entire Park.
The Park’s buildings will use the latest ‘green’
technologies and low-carbon design, minimisingtheir overall environmental impact and theirenergy needs.

And the power that is required or much o thePark will be provided by a new Energy Centre,
using the latest sustainable energy technology.
The Park will also eature other environmental
innovations, such as ‘grey and black water’recycling, where waste water rom baths,
sinks and washing machines is re-used
