Born in 1791, Charles Babbage was anEnglish mathematician and professor.

In 1822, he persuaded the British

government to finance his design to builda machine that would calculate tables forlogarithms.

With Charles Babbage's creation of the"Analytical Engine", (1833) computerstook the form of a general purposemachine.

Supercomputers:1) Supercomputers were

introduced in 1960s and

were designed primarily

by seymour cray .

2) It is a fastest type of

computer.3) Supercomputers are very

expensive.

4) It is used for animatedgraphics , fluid dynamic

calculations , weather

forecasting.



Mainframes:1) Mainframes were

introduced in( 1950-1970).

2) The group of

manufactures was first

known as “ IBM and the

seven dwarfs”.

3) In 2012 , NASA

powered down its lastmainframe , an IBM

system z9.



Workstations:1) It is a high-end microcomputer

designed for technical orscientific applications.

2) The term workstation has been

used to refer to a mainframe

computer terminal or a PC

connected to a network.

3) Both microcomputers ,

workstations had offered higherperformance than desktop

computer especially with

respect to CPU and graphics.



Microcomputers:1) It is a small , relatively

unexpensive computerwith a microprocessor

as its central processing

unit (CPU) .

2) It includes memory and

input / output facilities.

3) Many microcomputers

are also PC.



Microcontrollers:1) It is a small computer on

a single integrated circuitcontaining a processor

core, memory and

programmable

input/output.

2) These are used in

automatically controlled

products and devicessuch as in office

machines, power tools,

toys.
