The biggest challenge we all face is some of the

prevailing attitudes and culture of our experienced

nurses from generation BB/X. While students and NQN

report very good support and experience students also

report

‒Entrenched attitudes from some staff – “well this is the

NHS get used to it”

‒A lack of interest in the student experience

‒Not providing enough time for feedback and not

making students feel part of the team

‒Many of these criticisms are the same for NQNs

Skills Academy for Health and are designed to bring

together employers from the NHS, independent and

voluntary sectors to coordinate and implement high quality

skills programmes for support workers.

South Yorkshire regional excellence centre is already

embedded in our Accountable Care system and looking to

capitalise on opportunities for support staff across our

region
