about usEstablished in 1976 as “Pine Productions,” we

began manufacturing solid pine furniture for the

consumer market.

After demand for pine furniture diminished,

we moved our focus to the contract market,

becoming “Pineapple Contracts” in the

early 1990s.

We have been designing and manufacturing

safe furniture for extreme environments ever

since, and in 2017 we opened our offices in

Clawson, Michigan.

UPHOLSTERY

Our upholstery range is tested to stringent

fire retardant standards, making them

suitable for public buildings, correctional

environments, hospitals and behavioral

health units.

Our upholstery range is also tested to ensure

excellent durability – with the highest fabric

range being rated to 350,000 rubs in the

Martindale test.

All of our products are put through stringent

strength and stability testing to ensure their

durability (for example our Ryno chairs have

withstood over 500,000 cycles of seat & back

durability tests without damage!). Our upholstery

and other raw materials are selected for their

fire retardant properties.

case study.

Behavioral health unitFrom the outset, this healthcare provider aimed

to create a ‘calming, warming and welcoming’

behavioral health environment for patients in order

to reduce stigma and preserve dignity. Creating a

bright and positive setting while maintaining safety

for patients and staff was of the utmost importance,

so Ryno tables and chairs were used both inside

and out, offering safe and secure seating while also

adding a vibrant splash of color.

Their heavyweight design means they cannot

easily be picked up or thrown, and their one-piece

construction adds excellent durability. Domus Plus

chairs (also heavily weighted) were selected for the

lobby area, adding warmth and comfort with their

veneered plywood shells and upholstered seats. In

other areas of the hospital, Tempo tub chairs were

used to provide comfortable, informal seating.

Ryno’s heavyweight design means they cannot easily be picked up or thrown, and the one-piece construction creates excellent durability

case study.

Correctional facilityFurniture by Pineapple was recently selected by this correctional

facility to transform their visits area into a safer, less daunting

space. The previous furniture was no longer fit for purpose due

to damage and had to be removed for safety reasons. The coffee

tables were light enough to be picked up and thrown and chair

cushions were presenting a concealment risk prompting the need

for new, safer and more robust furniture.

By understanding the previous concerns, we were able to improve

prisoner, staff and visitor safety with our Ryno furniture range.

The Ryno chairs were supplied in a consistent color scheme to

assist staff monitoring and were weighted to 66lb to prevent

throwing. The rotationally moulded one-piece design improved

safety within the visits halls because unlike a conventional chair,

there are no legs to detach and weaponize, and the chair cannot

be easily lifted from the floor. Safety throughout the rest of the

correctional facility is helped too by the absence of concealment

points which reduces contraband stashing. This single-piece

construction creates an extremely strong and resilient chair

which will require fewer replacements over time. The chairs

were coupled with white Cumulus coffee tables which also deter

misuse courtesy of their heavy-duty powder coated steel base.

The installation of Ryno chairs and tables in the visits complex has served to both improve safety and security whilst providing an uplifting and visually pleasing environment for visitors and prisoners

Optional weight can be added to all Ryno products, making them impossible to throw, resulting in improved safety for patients and staff alike.

Our unique polymer blend is UV stabilized, and non- upholstered items are waterproof which also makes them ideal for outdoor use in all weather (factory-installed drainage holes recommended)

Compliant with flammability standard UL94 HB. Upholstered pads are compliant with British Standard 5852:2006 ignition source 5.

Ryno products are anti-microbial even beneath the surface, thanks to our unique polymer blend. Their waterproof nature means they can easily be wiped clean and dry quickly, ready to be used again.

Optional heavy duty stainless steel brackets allow Ryno products to be fixed to the floor and/or fixed to each other for increased security and safety.
