INTRODUCTION
OBJECTIVES
To identify fungi in seeds of Jatropha
To determine the effect of the seed-borne
fungi on germination and seedling stand
To evaluate quantity and quality of oil
as affected by the seed-borne fungi
METHODOLOGY
Objective 1: to identify fungi in seeds of Jatropha
Disinfested with 10% NaOCl for 3 minutes
Washed in changes of sterile distilled water
Plated unto petri plates lined with wet blotter paper

Dominant fungi harbored on seeds of Jatropha are species of Aspergillus and Penicillium with 54.5% and 18.8% occurrences, respectively.Seeds inoculated with Aspergillus sp.CRO12 and CRO13 resulted to 20-40% germination, about 15-20% reduction in seedling height and root length.Aspergillus sp. CRO7 caused 12.17%
reduction in oil during the second week of storage, 22.04% and 30.14% for the third and fourth week, respectively.
