The International Nepal Fellowship [INF] is Nepal’s longest-serving international non-government organisation, serving the people of Nepal since 1952 through health and community empowerment programs.

Our three hospitals along with our community-based health programs in Nepal’s West provide holistic care and prevention of disability – including leprosy, spinal cord injury, fistula, ear diseases and cerebral palsy.

Our community programs include work to empower women to improve their lives and livelihoods; maternal and child health programs; disaster response and resilience-building; and supporting community efforts to adapt to the impacts of climate change. Now INF is using its decades of experience and trusted relationships with the Government of Nepal to join the front-line response to COVID-19.

About INF

Nepal’s first confirmed coronavirus infection was on 24 January 2020. Since then, the national and provincial governments have worked to mobilise resources, establish more intensive-care and isolation places, and to require organisations like INF to place medical staff and resources on standby.

A nation-wide lockdown has been in place since 24 March. People are restricted to travel for essential purposes only, placing a huge additional burden on many people living in poverty, daily wage-labourers, and people with mental illness or other disabilities. By 4 May, there were 75 confirmed cases in Nepal, affecting fourteen districts in six of Nepal’s seven provinces.

Despite many donors being forced to withdraw funds, INF is stepping up in faith, hope and love to care for vulnerable people and to support Nepal’s fragile health system. Partnering with local and provincial governments, we will support:

1. Infection prevention, control and treatment – by providing medical equipment, facilities and staff where needed.

2. Community education –  by developing public health resources, particularly for people with disabilities and their carers.

3. Relief and support for the vulnerable – by providing essential food and other items to vulnerable families, tele-health outreach and follow-up with INF’s patients, families and communities.

About COVID-19 and Nepal

By running your own fundraising activity for INF’s #Stand Together campaign, you will raise vital funds for our COVID-19 response.

1. Visit inf.org/campaigns/stand-together – Then click “fundraise”

2. Add a campaign title –  Please name your campaign “First-name’s (+Surname) Fundraiser”. For example: Ben’s Fundraiser / Ben Thurley’s Fundraiser.

3. Add campaign details –  There’s text already provided, but you can personalise this by describing why you are fundraising for INF. Please make sure that you add or delete all the text in bold+italics. This text indicates a place where you should add information specific to your own fundraising action.

4. Set a fundraising goal [optional] – By default, the Stand Together campaign will finish on 30 June 2020 and has no set target. If you wish, you can set a target amount for your fundraising efforts. If you leave this blank, your fundraiser page will not indicate a fundraising target. If you add a target, it will appear prominently on your fundraising page,  as well as progress towards your goal.

5. Add a featured image – By default, there is a feature image already selected for you. Feel free to simply use that. However, to further personalise your own fundraising page, we recommend either:

a) Downloading a photo from INF’s google folder of photos of our COVID-19 and other medical work.

b) Uploading a photo that represents you and your fundraising action, such as a shot of you running, cycling, or performing your fundraising activity.

To add your own image, simply hover over the current featured image and click “remove”. Then upload your own image by clicking it and dragging it onto the now empty featured image space. 1820px wide x 1214px high (landscape) is ideal – however, any image where the height is roughly ⅔ the width works well.

6. Add your details – Add your contact details, write a short biography and add a profile photo. The bio should be two or three short sentences that tell people who you are, what you do, and your interests and hobbies.

A square photo works well and should be clearly recognisable. A “head and shoulders” shot with you smiling is best. Click “save and continue”.

Setting up your fundraiser

7. Register an account – You will be asked to register an account with inf.org to allow you to access your fundraising page and details. Using the email address already supplied, add a password of your choice.

8. Verify your email – You will receive an email asking you to verify your email address by clicking a link. Please do so.

9. Wait – You will receive an email letting you know that your fundraising campaigning is being reviewed before approval. This may take 24 – 48 hours. This email will also contain links allowing you to view and edit your draft campaign. You will receive a further email when your campaign has been approved. You can check on your campaign page via inf.org/my-campaigns and if you need to log in or log out of your account, use inf.org/my-campaigns-login

10. Promote your campaign – Use the email and social media resources provided in this kit to promote your fundraising activity to friends, family, colleagues and the wider world.
