On their mission to 'Make Education Possible' the St. Thomas Jumpin' Spirits youth group put together a fun night of trivia at a local pub! First they found a venue and picked a date. Then they advertised around their community and they were full in just 10 days!

To host a trivia night, find a local pub or coffeeshop that is popular in your neighbourhood. Once you have the permission from the venue and a date selected all you have to do is advertise, find volutneers to help run the event and look up some tricky or less known trivia facts.

Ask each team to pay a participation fee and have local businesses donate prizes for each round and overall as incentives for teams. Then have volunteers to tally the points to see who wins! For bigger prizes hold a raffle and sell tickets for extra excitement, fun and fundraising.

Every year Almonte and District High School students and teachers suit up for a fun and memorable game of volleyball to raise money for a good cause.

With a charity intramural match fundraising is as easy as playing a game! Pick a sport or game (dodgeball works really well) have people enter teams. Each team fundraises for their entry fee to the tournament. Then come game day, all the teams complete to be the ultimate champ! Fundraise some extra money by selling tickets, food and drinks to spectators.

For added fun, have each team pick a theme and dress up. Have a prize for best dressed/themed team.

It can be really fun if a team of teachers enter or have an exhibition match against the winners. Everyone will have a great time watching or playing and it will certainly put the fun in fundraising!

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

The West Ottawa Warriors traded soccer cleats for running shoes, taking their belief in the power of sport to transform communities to new lengths. With wonderful determination, leadership, and persistence, these ladies raised money for SchoolBOX via a 5k run. Along with their coach, the girls planned, rundraised and ran in their own benefit run, with proceeds going to SchoolBOX. They also entered the TrueSport Giveback Challenge and placed 3rd!

That success inspried them to host a second run in which they invited even more participants and raised even more money. Six of these amazing girls travelled to Nicaragua in July of 2013 to help build a school in a rural community. What started as a simple 5km run (walk, bike) turned into a huge fundraiser for this team and SchoolBOX!

To help those less fortunate the St. Thomas Jumpin' Spirits decided to sell anything they could get their hands on. They went one step further than a garage sale with household items. To help fundraise for their SchoolBOX build in Nicaragua they sold cookies and plants too!

To do this they baked yummy goods, brought in items from home that they no longer used and dug up extra plants they had in their gardens. They asked members of the church to do the same.

This was a resounding success! Not only did they get rid of items cluttering their homes but they raised thousands of dollars for their trip and community project.

Concerts: Have a local band play at a venue free of charge and sell tickets in advance and at the door.

Paint Nite: Host an evening of creativity, getting friends and family together for a paint lesson with a portion of ticket sales donated to SchoolBOX. Pick a local venue, line up an artist and paint!

Movie Night: Pick a popular movie to show at your school and sell tickets. Get local businesses to donate drinks and snacks and instead of selling them ask for a donation!

Dance: Go old school. Decorate your school gym, find some music, sell tickets and host a night to remember!

Spirit Day: Pick a theme, ask people for a donation to participate and then have a prize for the best costumes.

Although Mike and Millie Maloney’s Cake Auction at Sacred Heart High School began as a fundraiser for a different cause, they quickly turned this delicious idea into an incredible, edible fundraiser that helps multiple causes and that the entire community enjoys.

Mike and Millie are both teachers. For one day at Sacred Heart School— for a really good cause—the teachers, administrators, and students let their sweet tooths out for a Cake Auction. The students spend a week raising money to bid on a “Have Your Cake and Eat It Too” Cake.

But this is no simple fundraiser. This is an intense competition. Classes compete to raise the most funds. Then, the day of the big reveal arrives and the pocket books open!

A Bigger Bake Sale

Each cake—works of art and creativity that increase in scale, complexity, and sheer jaw-dropping extravagance each year—is baked by a teacher or parent. And they are stunning!
