Course Objectives

Plan technical communication deliverables that explain how to complete the procedureswithin a process.
Compose draft technical communication deliverables based upon planning phase pre-work.
Analyze draft technical communication deliverables and revise their contents in preparationfor final publication and distribution.
Produce a technical communication deliverable as a member of a collaborative team.

Course Contents
Distinguish Technical Communication from other forms of writing.
Define echnical Communication.
Compare the features of echnical Communication with other forms of writing.
Explain the scope and forms of technical communication deliverables.
List common tools used to produce technical communications.
Identify one or more style guides used to execute technical communication projects. Describe the roles of an effective technical communication team.
Plan technical communication deliverables that explain how to complete the procedureswithin a process.
Classify a key process and its procedures.
Prepare a purpose statement for the deliverable.
Identify readers and analyze their needs to ensure that the content of the final deliverableis relevant.
Select an appropriate organization method to effectively present technical content. Organize the content to be presented in outline form.
Compose draft technical communication deliverables based upon planning phase pre-work.
Develop technical descriptions, terms, and instructions that clearly communicate technicalconcepts, processes, and procedures.
Select effective graphics to support the communication of technical instructions.
Analyze draft technical communication deliverables and revise their contents in preparation
for final publication and distribution. Measure the readability of a draft deliverable using a proven method.
Apply proof-reading techniques to revise writing for clarity, conciseness, point-of-view,and accuracy.
