LMS’ Fundraiser Selects Its FirstLogo Contest Winner and Gears Up For ItsFUNd Run/Walk That Raised Over $3800
Woodbury, MN May 16, 2011: The full twelve hundred students will participate in
Lake Middle School’s first FUNd Run/Walk on Friday, May 20, 2011. Marked as
both a fundraiser for LMS’ PTA and to promote a healthy lifestyle, this event has
become a school-wide activity.
“We jump-started the FUNd Run/Walk with a logo contest. The FUNd Run/Walk
Committee received a great response to its first logo contest. There were many
creative entries by every grade level in our building. Unfortunately, we could only
select one design,” said Karen Sieffert, the logo contest organizer. “The
committee selected 6th grader Zarah Mamun's logo as the winner of Lake Middle
School's FUNd Run/Walk Logo Contest. Zarah's logo will appear on t-shirts and
promotional material for the FUNd Run/Walk,” she continued.
The designs of Felix Oh, a sixth grader, was selected as first runner up and
Brittney Hassinger and Cassie Hanson, both sixth graders, were selected as
second runner up. An exhibit of the logo entries are displayed in the commons
area of Lake Middle School and are posted on the school’s website at
www.sowashco.k12.mn.us/lake.

“We are so proud of our students, “says Cheryle Carter, event organizer. “It was
because of them that we raised over $3800. They had two weeks to do it. We
received donations as small as $5 and as large as $250. For those who were not
able to contribute or did not want to participate in the fundraiser, they have the
opportunity to win prizes like the students who raised funds simply by finishing
the walk or run. All students are winners by crossing the finishing line. It doesn’t
matter if they walked, ran or jogged it,” she continued.
The FUNd Run/Walk Committee reached out to the community to find prizes for
students who completed the walk/run and raised funds for the PTA. We would
like to thank the following companies for their donations to the FUNd Run/Walk:
Arrowhead Resort and Conference Center Afton Alps
Henseler Orthodontics Wooddale Fun Zone
Great Harvest Bread Company, Woodbury Radiance MedSpa
3M Waterpark of America
Anytime Fitness (Woodbury) Sam's Club
ISD 833 Community Education Lifetime Fitness
