The REHAU manufacturing range includes a variety of products made from silicone. Material types for specific applications are created in in-house laboratories. The REHAU formulations are easy to identify with the „RAU“ prefix. The abbreviation „RAU-SIK“ therefore stands for silicone rubber.

Using this high-quality and particularly versatile synthetic rubber REHAU produces, among other things, tubes, profiles, fittings and sheets on the latest equipment using various production proces-ses such as extrusion, foaming and pressing.

Silicone rubber is a polymer material from the elastomers group. A material with outstanding physical properties that is hard to beat, particularly in extreme conditions.

In addition to this, e.g. for contact with foodstuffs or for the requirements of aviation technology, special material formulations are available.

Properties which support the use and application of articles made from silicone rubber:

Products made from RAU-SIK are:

- Suitable for contact with foodstuffs*

- Permanently resistant to high temperatures in dry heat up to +200°C, in particular formulations up to approx. +300°C, short-term up to approx. +315°C

- Flexible at low temperatures down to approx. −60°C

- Special types down to approx. −90°C

- Permanently elastic at high and low temperatures

- Optimum sealing due to the outstanding shape retention

- Ageing, weathering, ozone and UV-resistant

- Tasteless and odourless*

- Resistant to many chemicals

- Water-repelling

- Electrically insulating*

- Without plasticisers, therefore no plasticiser migration

- Resistant to water vapour up to approx. 2 bar

- Flame-retardant

- Resistant to flue gas*

* Special material formulations necessary

REHAU produces profiles and seals made from silicones for almost any area of application. Particularly in the segment of windows and doors the polymer „all-rounder“ is able to show what it‘s made of.

Silicone sealing profiles from REHAU are unique in their versatility.Well-known manufacturers rely on our „Made in Germany“ quality.

And for good reason.The benefits compared to other materials are striking:

Seals with self-adhesive tape

RAU-SIK seals are as easy to apply .A separate groove without milling .

Ensure that the substructure is dry and free from grease and dust and remove any loose colour residue.

Then cut the seal to length according to the installa-tion conditions, pull off the protective foil and glue the seal without stretching it into the window or door rebate and press it down.

Seals with an arrowhead foot

Before inserting the seals a separate groove has to be routed into the frame rebate first of all. To do this a router suitable for a 4.3 mm arrowhead groove is required.

Ensure that there are no metal parts in the area of the groove.

The routing should not start in the area of the corners of the window. The seals should therefore not come loose at these points subsequently.

Please select the size of the seal flipper according to the window rebate to be sealed and roll the seal into the groove using a hand roller without stretching it.
