    Pre-treated human keratinocytes show an increased ability to counteract free radical formation induced by subsequent exposure to UVA irradiation. The two concentrations tested showed an excellent ability to inactivate free radicals. Data evaluation was obtained by comparing results with those of a known antioxidant, Vitamin C.Results show that TRICOREXINA ® Hydro has a higher antioxidant efficacy than Vitamin C, even at high doses of irradiation.

    By fighting oxidative stress, TRICOREXINA ® Hydro protects the energy metabolism, thus guaranteeing the correct nutritional contribution. Furthermore, by limiting the damage caused by oxidative stress, TRICOREXINA ® Hydro has a soothing effect and helps prevent ageing.

    TRICOREXINA ® Hydro induces a significant increase in cell viability at the tested concentrations, with a peak activity at the dose of 12.5 mg/mL (after 72 hours). Its effectiveness can be further proven even at the maximum dilution where it promotes stimulation by more than 14% .

    TRICOREXINA ® Hydro stimulates keratinocyte growth and therefore their production of keratin and in turn hair growth. (Keratinocytes stimulate melanocyte functions such as proliferation, differentiation, melanogenesis, and dendritogenesis. A function of keratinocytes is to produce keratin and filaggrin, which are involved in regulating the barrier function.)

    During skin ageing, collagen content is markedly reduced. As a result, the strength of the dermal papilla cells in the hair follicles of the scalp decreases and this promotes hair loss. The effect of TRICOREXINA ® Hydro on protein expression has been evaluated in human fibroblasts:

    The cells were treated with TRICOREXINA ® Hydro at intervals of 24, 48 and 72 hours. At the end of each treatment protein synthesis was evaluated. TRICOREXINA ® Hydro stimulates protein metabolism in each treatment, even at maximum dilution, with a peak activity at 24 hours, and an increase of 140% to 1.6 mg/ml.TRICOREXINA ® Hydro stimulates fibroblast protein metabolism, reinforcing the dermal structures on the scalp and slowing hair loss.

  • A clinical study on a hair lotion containing 10% TRICOREXINA ® Hydro in order to evaluate the cosmetic activity related to the prevention of hair loss. The study was conducted on 20 healthy volunteers, 12 women and 8 men, aged 18 to 70. Volunteers used the product for 56 days, applying it twice a week.

    The following parameters were assessed:
