Built to the highest architectural standards Hurakia Luxury Lodge is eco- friendly being 100% self-sufficient. It
generates power from solar panels on the roof and collects its own water from rainfall.
Hurakia offers secluded and expansive outdoor areas with panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf and its
surrounding islands. The pavilion style lounge area is suitable for up to 120 guests with sliding walls that
completely open up the interior to the surrounding exterior decking making it the perfect all weather venue
for your wedding.
There is no road access to Hurakia ensuring complete privacy & provides 20 acres of island sanctuary to enjoy as you
please.
The site has beautiful spots for photographs.
Wedding ceremonies are generally held outdoors or in the courtyard. There are large covered eves in the
event of bad weather
Hurakia Lodge offers a range of on and off-site activities. Please refer to our website for off-site activities
and let us know if you would like to participate in any of these as they need to be arranged beforehand.
These activities incur additional charges
The prices quoted are for the wedding day and half of the next day. Any set-up or set-down required over
and above this day incurs additional charges.
Catering
On-site catering is over seen by our executive chef. Hurakia offers formal sit down plated meals for groups
of up to sixty guests and a banquet or walk ‘n Fork style reception for events over this number. The venue
seats 80-90 guests. Larger standing/cocktail style functions can be accommodated. If you require more
than 90 seated marquees can be erected on site.

INFORMATION
Alcohol
Alcohol is not included but a bar facility is available on site with an array of house and premium
wines/beers/champagnes and spirits.
We allow BYO alcohol. A corkage fee applies for the additional service staff required, glassware charges
and assistance in transporting the alcohol from the Hurakia jetty to the Lodge. It excludes the cost of
transporting the alcohol to the Hurakia jetty.
Transport
There are several ways of transporting your guests to Rakino. Our team will take care of all travel
arrangements for you and your guests ensuring the maximum ease of your arrival and departure. You are
also free to deal directly with operators or provide your own transport by private boat.
The ferry departs from the Auckland Downtown Ferry Terminal from Pier 3B. The address is Quay St,
Auckland, 1010. There are two available options a 48 or 98 passenger vessel (not 50 or 100). Latest
departures from Rakino are 11pm to midnight. The ferry trip is approximately 45minutes each way
Some weddings opt to charge their guests for the ferry tickets which we have found most do not mind
contributing. This saves the bride & groom the full ferry cost. You would still be required to under right the
full ferry fare.
The water taxi departs from Okahu Bay from the public floating wharf at the Royal Akaranna Yacht Club.
The address is 8 Tamaki Drive, Okahu Bay 1071. The water taxi can seat up to 10 passengers
The helicopter departs from the heliport in Auckland’s CBD. The address is 1 Solent St, Judges Bay, Auckland
1010. The helicopters seat a maximum of 6 passengers. Operating hours are daylight hours due to aviation
laws. Please arrive 15minutes before the departure time for the safety briefing. Each helicopter trip requires
quoting with the operator. You can deal direct or we can arrange on your behalf.
A helicopter grand-entrance by the bride or groom can add to the festivities of the day
Other transport options include launch charter (varying capacities) or jet-boat (capacity 30 passengers)
Logistics
Hurakia Lodge is on Rakino Island. Please be mindful that there are no shops or facilities on the island.
Mobile coverage is generally good
Rakino has a total fire ban due to its isolation. Candles, fireworks, and open fires are not permitted
