All bids must be good for 90 days. proposed Atmos contract with Mayor David Lattus and Commissioner Roger Adams, Heath Carlton, and David Weatherly. Along with the increased management fee, Atmos also proposed the City paying for gas as it passes through their gate. Currently, the City pays for gas as they use it and as they purchase it, meaning stored gas is paid for at the time of purchase, not at consumption. The new proposal is enticing to McTurner as he works to keep the City’s cash flow consistent. “When we purchase gas during the summer months it ties up our funds and we sometimes even have to borrow from our line of credit to pay for the gas,” he explained. Right now gas is approximately $1 cheaper than it was last year at this same time. This would be a great time to store gas for the colder, winter months to help keep costs down for the consumer. “Going with the new contract will allow us to free up cash flow by paying for gas as we use it. Now when we purchase with the use of gas futures at low projected prices, we won’t pay until we receive at the gate. This will in turn result in savings for our gas customers and keep us from having to borrow money to pay for the gas during the summer months, saving us and the consumers money,” added McTurner. The increased management fee, which could be passed on to the consumers, is about $1 per month when a household uses approximately 7,000 cubic fee of gas per month. The City is also researching and reviewing the possibility of entering into a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract with Harshaw Trane. “If they can save us the type of money they say they can and also cut down our gas loss numbers, we can pass these savings on to our consumers and it is possible we won’t have to pass the increased Atmos management fee onto them,” added McTurner. A motion was made by Commissioner Weatherly to accept the three-year contract with Atmos Energy, including the increased fee. Commissioner Adams did second Weatherly’s motion and Resolution 15-70 passed unanimously. The Commission is scheduled to meet again in regular session on Monday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at City Hall. proposed Atmos contract with Mayor David Lattus and Commissioner Roger Adams,

Heath Carlton, and David Weatherly.

Along with the increased management fee, Atmos also proposed the City paying for gas as it passes through their gate. Currently, the City pays for gas

as they use it and as they purchase it, meaning stored gas is paid for at the time of purchase, not at consumption.

Now when we purchase with the use of gas futures at low

projected prices, we won’t pay until we receive at the gate.
