Fulmer Infant School Friday 24 th April 2020 Dear Parents/Carers, A Strange Beginning to the Summer Term The Summer Term has started and sadly the lockdown restrictions are continuing. We really miss all the children and their friendly chitter-chatter each day. It’s so quiet here currently. Of our 11 eligible pupils only 2 are present this week which will rise to 3 from next Monday. Other eligible parents, who have access to other alternative childcare, are feeling the safest place is at home. Hopefully now, you will all have been able to access the packs of work that the class teachers have prepared for each class. These will be prepared on a weekly basis and available by Monday afternoons. You will receive your pack by email or can find the work also listed on the school website. For those families who do not have access to a printer then the worksheets, along with reading books, can be collected from school. Please note the sessions when the school is open: - Mondays 1:00 3:00 - Year 2 Tuesdays 1:00 - 3:00 - Year 1 Wednesdays 1:00 - 3:00 - Year R Thank you all so much for your support and understanding through this difficult time; we have received some lovely encouraging and thankful emails over the last few days and really appreciate your kind words. We do hope you are managing to continue your child’s lear ning at home and please be assured we will certainly be both willing and able to help fill in any gaps as soon as we are all able to return. Easter Colouring Competition Thank you and a really big ‘Well Done’ to all the children who took part in our Easter colouring competition initiated at the end of last term. It has been so rewarding to see these bright bunny pictures come into school and what an amazing standard of colouring! The pictures were judged on Thursday by a panel of 3 judges (Mrs Hunt, Mrs Dowsing and Mrs Parrett) and it was an incredibly difficult task it was so close! Here are the winning pictures! Easter Colouring Competition

Thank you and a really big ‘Well Done’ to all the children who took part in our Easter colouring competition initiated at the end of last term. It has been so rewarding to see these bright bunny pictures come into school and what an amazing standard of colouring! The pictures were judged on Thursday by a panel of 3 judges (Mrs Hunt, Mrs Dowsing and Mrs Parrett) and it was an incredibly difficult task – it was so close! Here are the winning pictures!

Springtime at Fulmer

This Springtime has been particularly beautiful and we have certainly all enjoyed the sunshine! Sadly, the school grounds have been at their best during lockdown and the Easter break and so many of you will have missed the gorgeous blossom and flowers shown here. The front garden was stunning!

These vibrant red tulips were amongst 100 planted in 2014 by the children to commemorate the start of the First World War. Every year they grow and bloom to remind us of the great sacrifice made by young soldiers to protect our freedom. We should like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to Mr Clifford Bourne and Mrs Barbara Bridges, grandparents of Finley and Chloe, who regularly come into school to cut the front lawn and maintain our front flower beds. They help make the front of the school look so pretty and their hard work is always greatly appreciated.

Our Next Competition! As we had such an excellent amount of entries for our Easter colouring competition we have decided to run another competition for the start of this term. This time we would like you to help your child learn their own address by creating a postcard addressed to someone in their house – maybe to you! They can design the front of the postcard with a picture and write a short message on the back. Each postcard will be judged on:-

1) Address correctly written 2) Neat handwriting 3) Colourful picture 4) Coloured in stamp

At the end of this newsletter, please find the competition entry sheet. Just like before, we ask you to print this out for your child. You are most welcome to help them with spellings but all the writing must be done by your child. Simply scan their finished work and email it back to school. Alternatively, blank copies are available to collect & return on the day allocated to your class for reading book exchange. The competition closes on Wednesday 6th May, to be judged the next day and results shared in the next fortnightly newsletter. There are 3 year group prizes; the prize is a book and special Fulmer Infant School pencil.

Happy Birthday Prince Louis – 2 Years Old

Many of you will have seen the gorgeous photos taken by the Duchess of Cambridge this week of Prince Louis printing rainbows with his hands. These have been released in honour of his 2nd birthday on 23rd April. Happy 2nd Birthday Prince Louis from everyone at Fulmer!

To celebrate Prince Louis’s birthday, here in school we decided to have a go at a similar art activity. Painting hands is certainly very messy but also a lot of fun! Rainbows are a sign of hope for better things to come. They are a simple way to thank everyone in the NHS for saving lives and helping people with Coronavirus.

Easyfundraising Please can you help? Despite the school being closed during the Coronavirus outbreak, parents can still earn money for the school through ‘Easyfundraising’ with any online shopping that they do and we are all having to do most of our shopping online currently. Remember that last year we raised over £1,000! This is such a painless way to raise money for the school and our budget is very tight so please read the instructions below and remember to use the account for any shopping you do online; over 3,000 retailers have signed up to the account! All you have to do is: 1. Go to: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/EG93VX/LDD5US 2. Enter Fulmer Infant School in the search box 3. Click Join Us and enter your details and then click on Create My Account 4. Choose from over 3,000 retailers, do your online shopping as normal and our cause will

receive a free donation at no extra cost to you for every purchase you make There are no catches or hidden charges and the school will be really grateful for your donations. Thank you so much for your support.
