1.1 IDP conducted another successful National Shurah meeting on the 8th January 2017.
1.2 Gauteng Imams attended a 2 Day Intensive Workshop on Personal and Organizational Visioning – How to develop sustainable and structured change within communities by the Skills Development Network for Islamic Workers and SANZAF.
1.3 A 2 day Masjid Tour was conducted in Gauteng where 12 centres were visited, providing insights into the needs of the Masjids and Communities.
1.4 Imams from Durban attend the Regent Business School Young Leaders Workshop each month conducted by Advocate Mahomed Vahed.
1.5 Our newest Imams across all 4 Provinces were presented with Laptops.
1.6 al Qadhi, al Qari Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim al Luhaydan conducted a tour of over 20 centres in 3 cities, bringing awareness to the Imam Development Project and providing insight into the Masjid and Communities in South Africa.
1.7 Imams from Cape Town attended the AlKauthar Institute Course, World of the Unseen with Sheikh Imtiyaz Damiel.
1.8 Imams from the Eastern Cape attended a Public Speaking Seminar.
1.9 Imams from Durban attended the AlKauthar Institute Course, Al Mustafa with Sheikh Muhammad West.
1.10 Imams from Johannesburg and the Eastern Cape atteneded the AlKauthar Institute Course, Al Mustafa with Sheikh Muhammad West.
1.11 Imams from Cape Town attended the Freshstart Program, Love Stories from the Quran with Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim.

1.1 The 2nd Annual Iman Net Conference was held in Cape Town on the 13th April 2017 and attended by the Imams.
1.2 Over 50 Imams from across South Africa attended the Annual Iman Retreat with Sheikh Mirza Yawar Baig and Ustadh Ahmad Saleem in Tulbagh, CT from 14-17 April. The theme being, Navigating Through Stormy Waters via Lessons from the Seerah.
1.3 Imams prepared, presented and were awarded cash prizes for their presentations at the Iman Retreat. View it on YouTube (Imam Development Project).
1.4 JHB and KZN Imams attended the AlKauthar Course, Tafseer Surah Taha Chronicles of Moses (AS) - 13/14 May
1.5 KZN Imams attended the Young Leaders Academy Workshop – 20 May.
1.6 Eastern Cape and Cape Town Imams attended a Mandatory meeting discussing the progress of the Imams – 20/21 May.
1.7 Moulana Ismail Tofie of the IDP Cape Town Group hosted a segment on Voice of the Cape titled ‘Madrassah on Air’ based on the Al Mufeedah book.
1.8 Sheikh Jaasia Njelenje’s article titled ‘Make the most of the Holy Month of Ramadan’ was published in the Sunday Tribune.
1.9 Imam Abdur Rashid Ndlovu and Imam Bilal Mpofu were presented with lounge suites.
1.10 SANZAF in partnership with IDP distributed blankets among the needy as well as contributed to Fitrah hampers.
1.11 The IDP facilitated for Zakah al Fitr to be distributed amongst the Imams Community.
1.12 The IDP gifted every Imam a R600 Mr Price voucher for Eid.

1.2 The KZN Imams attended the Young Leaders Academy workshop – 22 July.
1.3 The Eastern Cape Imams attended an Emotional Intelligence Workshop in partnership with SANZAF PE– 22 July.
1.4 The Gauteng and Cape Town Imams completed the First Aid Level 1 Training – 19 Aug.
1.5 The KZN Imams attended the Young Leaders Academy workshop – 19 Aug.
1.6 The Western Cape and the Eastern Cape Imams attended a Mandatory Meet-ing and new Imams were presented with welcome packs followed by a braai – 26/ 27 Aug.
1.7 The Imam Development Project National Manager, Sheikh Bilal Ismail and the Gauteng Manager, Moulana Ebrahim Mokgabudi visited the new Imams in Mpumalanga, welcoming them to the Imam Development Project & conducting site visits– 17/18 Aug.
1.8 The Eastern Cape Imams attended a Conflict Resolution workshop hosted by Obadiah Training Consultants – 16 Sept.
1.9 The JHB Imams attended and presented at an Eid ul Adha workshop at Osizweni Orphanage – 16 Sept.
1.10 The Gauteng, KZN, Western Cape and Mpumalanga Imams all attended & presented at the AlKauthar Institute course “The Muslim DNA” by Sheikh Daood Butt (Canada) – 23/ 24/ 25 Sept.
1.11 The IDP introduced ‘Friday Arabic Day’ to encourage and strengthen our Imams Arabic - 21 Sept.
1.12 The Western Cape Imams attended the Accidental Muslims Leadership Conference – 30th Sept.
1.13 The IDP added 23 new Imams onto the project and expanded into the fifth province of Mpumalanga.
1.10 All newly added Imams were gifted Samsung Smartphones, 64GB memory sticks and books.
1.11 We currently have 70 Imams across 5 provinces.

1.4 Western Cape Imams participated in an Emotional Intelligence facilitation workshop, “Brains for Communication” – 21 October.
1.5 Mpumalanga Imams attended a Smartphone, App and Social Media training session – 21 October.
1.6 Western Cape Imams attended the Annual Mercy Mission Summit in Tulbagh, which was attended by the Heads of the International Mercy Mission projects. Sheikh Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury handed over laptops to our newest Imams and awards to Imam Yunus Sanudi and Imam Abdul Rashid Ndlovu for Outstanding Perserverance.
1.7 Eastern Cape Imams initiated a “Thursday Night Blitz” – Inspirational evenings with short talks on thought provoking topics – 7 November.

1.15 IDP Imams from Western Cape and the youth of their community, in partnership with Boorhanol Islam Movement, took part in the Boorhanol Summer Youth Dowrah Program – 18 December.
1.16 The IDP assisted a sterling Cape Town Imam, Moulana Rameez Arends, in raising R53 353 for Madrassah Zaytun Abbas to take 11 students for Umrah in 2018. Moulana Rameez performed Umrah with the IDP in 2016 and made a firm intention to take his students on the journey of their heart. November.

Q.1. What is the Imam Development Project?A.1. The Imam Development Project aims to assist currently employed Imams and Religious leaders to empower, develop and refine their skills. Q.2. Why the need for an Imam Development Project?A.2. Many complain about Imams and many Imams complain about their state. All agree on the importance of the Imam but very few try to remedy the situation.The Imam is supposed to be a confident, strong, passionate individual but unfortunately due to circumstances the Imam is usually underpaid, undeveloped, overworked and lacking in passion.The IDP aims to assist them financially as well as providing medical, educational, training, clothing, media and counseling assistance. Q.3. How does the Imam Development Project aim to develop Imams?A.3. The IDP will provide a package to Imams according to performance. Imams are either placed in Silver, Gold or Platinum tier and receive a monthly stipend according to the tier in which they fall.The IDP will also provide financial, medical, educational, training, clothing, media and counseling assistance to the Imams.
Q.4. Will the IDP be hiring Imams?A.4. No, the IDP will only assist currently employed Imams with a Top Up Package.
Q.5. What are the criteria for selection?A.5.
