A young attractive waitress, KAYLA, likely in her mid to

late twenties starts walking towards a table that she iswaiting on.

KAYLA (V.O.)This is where my life has led me.

CUT TO:

MONTAGE: KAYLAS LIFE

INT. CLASSROOM - DAY

A young Kayla raises her hand when her teacher asks her aquestion related to Paleontology in AP Biology.

KAYLA (V.O.)In high-school my future seemedvery promising.

CUT TO:

INT. KAYLAS ROOM - DAY

She sets up her college degree on her wall. The Degree is a

major in Paleontology.

KAYLA(V.O.)That hopefulness continued onthrough college too.

She looks at the Paleontology degree with pride.

KAYLA(V.O.)Though it was all out of my strongpassion for dinosaurs.

CUT BACK TO:

INT. FANCY RESTAURANT - DAY

Kayla reaches the table. The customer at the table is MR.CHAMBERS a brown haired man in his mid forties to earlyfifties, whose hair is beginning to gray.

KAYLA (V.O.)Which is why I am here.

KAYLAMay I start you off with somethingto drink?

MR. CHAMBERSI would like a glass with 1/3preferably green tea and lemonade,1/3 ice, and 1/3 sprite.

KAYLAAlright.

Kayla heads back and grabs a large glass and puts togetherthe mixture. She looks at it for a moment with curiosity.She grabs a water cup and puts together a miniature versionof the mixture. She takes a small sip of it.

KAYLA(to herself)

Holy shit.

She quickly downs the rest of it and takes the larger glassto Mr. Chambers.

KAYLAHere you are.

MR. CHAMBERSThank you very much.

KAYLAHave you decided on what you wantto eat?

MR. CHAMBERSWell I recommended the drink toyou. Now you should recommend whatI eat.

KAYLAWhat?

MR. CHAMBERSI am sure that you have never hadsomeone order that drink before,and you decided to try it. Youneeded to at some point.

KAYLAHow do you know?

MR. CHAMBERSI took you for a curious-type. Butmostly a hunch. What did you think

of it?

Kayla appears to be very confused.

MR. CHAMBERSWell?

KAYLAIt was very good.

MR. CHAMBERSAlright. Well what would yourecommend from this place?

KAYLAI havent been working here longenough to be able to offer anopinion on the food.

MR. CHAMBERSRight... Well if you were able tochoose anything from this menu.What would it be?

Kayla looks over the menu.

KAYLAThe lobster macaroni.

MR. CHAMBERSThat sounds great.

KAYLAIs there anything else that I canget for you?

MR. CHAMBERSA Paleontologist.

KAYLAWhat?

MR. CHAMBERSYou heard what I said. I am goingto assume that, that "What" wasfiller while you were processingwhat I said.

Kayla appears to be even more confused, and a bituncomfortable.

MR. CHAMBERSYou may be off now. The sound oflobster macaroni got me hungry and

I am in a bit of a hurry.

Kayla walks off trying to process what is going on.

INT. FANCY RESTAURANT - LATER

Kayla walks out carrying the lobster macaroni, but findsthat Mr. Chambers is no longer at his table. She goes overto the table and finds a to-go box, a $100 dollar bill, anda note. She pockets the $100 dollar bill and grabs the note

to read it.

TEXT:

There is more where this came from. And yes I still do wanta paleontologist. Enjoy the lobster macaroni and once youget off call me at 555-653-7268.

FADE BLACK TO:

EXT. KAYLAS PARENTS HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON

Kayla approaches her house with the to go box in one handand a bag of groceries in the other. She knocks on the doorand her mother lets her in.

INT. KAYLAS PARENTS HOUSE - LATE AFTERNOON

KAYLAS MOTHERHow was work today?

KAYLAFine.

Kayla makes her way towards the kitchen counter and unloadsher groceries. She pulls out tea, lemonade, and sprite fromthe bag. Kayla quickly puts together the drink that Mr.Chambers introduced to her and makes her way upstairs andthen begins to chow down on her lobster macaroni. Kaylagrabs her cell phone and dials the number that Mr. Chambersleft on the note.

MR. CHAMBERSSurprised that it took you so long.Hows the lobster macaroni?

KAYLAQuite delectable, now I want to

know why you would need apaleontologist.

MR. CHAMBERSWell that will be revealed later.First you must take a test.

MR. CHAMBERSThat is not for me to decide.

KAYLAThen who is doing the deciding?

MR. CHAMBERSYoull see tomorrow.

KAYLATomorrow wont work for me. I havea job.

MR. CHAMBERSIf everything works out properly,you will never need to work again.

KAYLAWhat?

MR. CHAMBERSYou really must cut it out withthose filler "whats".

KAYLASorry.

EXT. MR. CHAMBERS MANSION - DAY

Kayla approaches Mr. Chambers mansion fairly cautiously.She double checks the curb to make sure that she has theright address. She goes and knocks on the front door. Mr.Chambers opens it up and greets Kayla.

MR. CHAMBERSCome in come in.

INT. MR. CHAMBERS MANSION - DAY

MR. CHAMBERS (CONTD)I hope that you are ready for yourtest.

KAYLAYeah, whats the test on?

MR. CHAMBERSPatience. Did you come up with anickname for my drink?

KAYLAOh right... I was thinkingSpritzle.

MR. CHAMBERSOf course, why didnt I think ofthat? Now wait here for a momentwhile I check if your test isready.

Mr. Chambers heads off screen leaving Kayla to just ponderat the fancy home. He comes back roughly a minute later.

MR. CHAMBERSEverything appears to be in order,would you follow me?

Mr. Chambers starts leading Kayla to another room. Kaylaappears to be nervous.

MR. CHAMBERSThere is no reason to be nervous.There is no way that you can fail.

KAYLAHow so?

They finally reach the room and Mr. Chambers shows her in.He closes the door behind her. Kayla is met by a person thatis sitting in a large chair with the back of the chairfacing towards her. The person isnt tall enough to seetheir head while sitting in the chair. The person in the

chair swivels around and is revealed to be HANNAH a littlegirl around the age of ten that looks like a miniatureversion of Kayla.

HANNAHHello.

KAYLA(confused)

Hi.

HANNAHLets start you off. What were the

three eras in which the dinosaursexisted?

KAYLATriassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous.Is this the test?

HANNAHWhat was it that I just asked you?

Kayla is confused by the question at first.

KAYLAA question.

HANNAHAnd what are on tests?

Hannah gives her the stink eye before she grabs a largetextbook on paleontology. She slams it on the desk.

HANNAHTime for you to show your worth.

INT. INTERVIEW ROOM - DAY

MONTAGE:

Hannah testing Kayla on paleontology from questions that shefinds inside of the Paleontology textbook.

INT. MR. CHAMBERS HOUSE - DAY

Kayla comes out of the interview room and is met by Mr.Chambers and ADAM who appears to be in his early thirties.

MR. CHAMBERSHow was it?

KAYLAChallenging.

Hannah follows soon after.

MR. CHAMBERSHow was she?

HANNAHShell do.

Adam shoots an unamused look towards Mr. Chambers. Hannahgiggles a little bit.

KAYLASo what did you bring me here for?

Mr. Chambers points towards Adam.

MR. CHAMBERSAdam, go to the garage and showher.

ADAMWill do.

Adam shifts his attention towards Kayla.

ADAMCome with me.

Adam and Kayla make their way away from Mr. Chambers andHannah. Towards the large garage.

ADAMI am assuming that you are still inthe "What the hell is going on"phase?

KAYLAYup.

ADAMYou will probably continue to bethere for a little while longer.

KAYLAHow long is a "Little While Longer"to you people?

ADAMBased on my experiences with thetwo. Generally with Mr. Chambers it

can be either a minute to a week.With Hannah it is generally tenminutes. For me right now, aroundfive minutes. You?

KAYLAI dont know.

ADAMWhy would you ask someone aquestion like that if you werentable to answer it yourself?

KAYLAWell wait a little while longer andI will tell you.

Adam chuckles a little.

KAYLA (CONTD)So how did Mr Chambers get toafford all of this?

ADAMStocks and a lot of luck.

KAYLANo kidding.

ADAMSurely this house doesnt telllies.

KAYLAGuess not.

ADAMSo tell me as much as you knowabout the end of the Cretaceousera.

KAYLAIs this what you need aPaleontologist for? It seems thatHannah would be able to explainthis to you... or Google.

ADAMMr. Chambers is running theoperation, I am just getting payedto make things fall into place. Andin a little while so will you. Sowould you kindly tell me what you

know about the ending of theCretaceous era?

KAYLANothing is a hundred percentcertain. But we believe that itended roughly 65 million years agoand that it was likely from a largeasteroid that impacted the Yucatanpeninsula in modern Mexico.

ADAMGood, now depending on what I am

about to show and tell you may ormay not continue to be in the "Whatthe hell is going on?" phase.

They finally reach the garage. Adam unlocks the door andthey make their way in.

INT. MR. CHAMBERS GARAGE - DAY

The interior of the garage is covered in wires and in thecenter is a device that has a large circular metal platformraised about a staircase step high. Four tall Slender

rectangular poles are raised equidistant from each other.The contraption takes up the majority of the space withinthe garage. It also has a computer plugged into it forAdams use. Kayla is very intrigued by the large device.

ADAMI have one more question. Tell mewhat you know about time travel.

Kayla is speechless.

ADAM (CONTD)Oh and if you think that you are aknow-it-all of time travel becauseyou have watched Doctor Who... Thatis how you get on my bad siderather quickly.

Kayla practically ignored what he just said while thinkingabout the question.

KAYLAAbsolutely nothing. I figure thatit is impossible.

ADAMHave you ever heard the saying

KAYLAYeah.

ADAMWell heres my twist on it. Wheretheres potential for money, thereis a will, therefore there is away. Mr. Chambers happens to havethe money and will. I happen tohave the way.

ADAMWell there is no way that we can

just sit down and have a littlechat about how it works exactly.Though I can explain what I do tomake it work. Follow me to thecomputer.

Adam sits down at the desk with the computer. He turns thecomputer on and lines of code start to run across themonitor. When it stops it shows the latitude, longitude, anddate of the time machines current position.

ADAM (CONTD)It is all controlled from righthere. From this computer I can setset many variables such as date,time, location, and even variablesof a persons characteristics.

They make their way away from the computer.

ADAMNo kidding. It is still hard for me

ADAMBasically Mr. Chambers and I goback and now he has payed me to goback in time to the near-end of theCretaceous era to... get hisdaughter a pet dinosaur.

KAYLA (LAUGHING IN DISBELIEF)No way.

ADAM (LAUGHING WITH HER)

Way. The man is very rich.

They are both laughing their asses off.

ADAM (CONTD)So you and I have to go back intime repeatedly to get as close tothe mass extinction as we can...without dying and catch a smalldinosaur that would have normallydied from the extinction and nothave had any impact on the future.

KAYLAWow. How dangerous is that?

ADAMWell if my hypothesis is correct.Even if we make a mistake thatwould have an impact on the futurewe would be altering our so called

Adam shifts his attention over towards the computer and seesa piece of paper on top of the computer that he hadntnoticed before. He grabs it.

ADAM (CONTD)

Thats odd. Did you place thishere?

KAYLANo.

Adam takes a moment to read what the paper says. He seems tobe put into shock after reading it for a bit.

ADAMWait here a moment.

Adam makes his way towards the exit of the garage. Right

before he leaves he has one last remark.

ADAM (CONTD)Dont touch anything.

KAYLAWasnt planning on it.

INT. MR. CHAMBERS KITCHEN - DAY

Mr. Chambers and Hannah are sitting at the kitchen tabledrinking Spritzles.

MR. CHAMBERSHow is she doing?

ADAMFine. You need to read this.

MR. CHAMBERSMust be pretty important then.

Adam hands the paper to Mr. Chambers. He takes a moment toread it.

MR. CHAMBERS (CONTD)(a bit disheartened)

Well I guess that we best get towork.

HANNAHAbout time.

The three of them make their way back towards the garage.

INT. MR. CHAMBERS GARAGE - DAY

The three of them enter the garage with what looks likehiking equipment. Adam grabs his laptop and plugs a cable,that normally runs from the time machine to the computer,into the laptop.

ADAMEveryone hop onto the platform.

KAYLAI thought that only you and I weresupposed to go.

ADAMChange of plans.

HANNAHIf time travel is involved, I aminvolved.

KAYLAShe knows?

HANNAHBased on what I just said, youshould be able to infer that yesindeed I know.

Mr. Chambers gives a proud smile. Adam looks at the piece ofpaper as he quickly types in lines of code into his laptop.Adam then hops onto the platform himself along with whatlooks like a miniature version of the time machine. Hepresses enter on his laptop. A bright blue light flashes andthey vanish.

EXT. MIDDLE OF OPEN FIELD - DAY

They all appear out of thin air. They are all hystericalthat it worked. They look into the air and see what lookslike a large star that is roughly 1/10th of the size of whatthe sun looks like.

MR. CHAMBERSAdam, how long do you estimate itwill take that asteroid to impact?

ADAMA week.

KAYLAWhat is that device that youbrought with us?

ADAMMiniature version of what you sawinside of the garage. It requiresless energy to use but it can onlysend one of us at a time.

MR. CHAMBERSYou two go and do whatever timetraveler stuff that must be done.Hannah and I are going to go for awalk.

ADAMSo be it.

KAYLAMake sure you stay within the blastradius of the asteroid so that youonly alter the organisms that donthave any lasting effects on thefuture.

ADAMWe dont know whether doinganything could alter the future ornot.

HANNAHThat was unnecessary Adam. Yousaying that shows understanding inwhat she meant.

MR. CHAMBERS

Aaaand... Were off.

Hannah and Mr. Chambers head off.

KAYLASo what do you need me to do?

ADAMAs of right now, nothing. Justabsorb the view. I am going to getthis thing operational real quick.

Kayla sits on the grass, looks in the distance, and sees a

pterodactyl soaring through the sky. It is so relaxing thatshe shuts her eyes for a little while. She is awoken byAdams voice.

ADAMKayla come over here for a momentand step on this device. I need totest something real quick.

KAYLAAlright.

She gets up off of the grass and starts making her waytowards Adam.

CUT TO:

Mr. Chambers and Hannah have now entered a forest. They comeacross a small makeshift crate that has a small carnivorousdinosaur trapped inside.

HANNAHWhat?

MR. CHAMBERSDont worry dear.

CUT BACK TO:

Kayla steps on the miniature time machine.

ADAMPardon, I just need to make a quickcalibration.

KAYLANo problem.

Adam hits enter on the keyboard and Kayla disappears. Hethen types in some new code and steps on the device himself.

Adam hits enter once again and disappears with the laptopbut the device remains.

CUT TO:


Adam appears out of thin air. He pulls a piece of paper outof his pocket. He makes his way around to an alternateentrance into the garage and sets the piece of paper down onhis computer and quickly makes his way out. Kayla and Adamthen enter the garage.

ADAMI have one more question. Tell mewhat you know about time travel.

CUT TO:

EXT. LARGE CORPORATE BUILDING - NIGHT

A younger looking Mr. Chambers makes his way out of thebuilding. No one else is around. He starts walking acrossthe street on the still night. Out of nowhere a little girlappears across the street and he goes to rush to her aid.She is a 3-5 year old Hannah.

Adam waits outside of the garage. A blue light flashes outof the garage, cuing him to go inside. Adam plugs the timemachine into the computer, sets a piece of paper down on thetime machine, and types in more code. He then presses enter.

CUT TO:

EXT. MIDDLE OF OPEN FIELD - DAY

OVER THE SHOULDER: ADAM

Over in the distance Kayla is taking her nap. Adam goes downon his knees to plug something into the time machine. Underthe machine there is a slip of paper that wasnt therebefore. He grabs it and it says:

It must be done now.

Adam gets off of his knees and looks towards Kayla.

ADAMKayla come over here for a momentand step on this device. I need totest something real quick.

FADE OUT:

While the credits are rolling Adam is burning all of hisblue prints for the time machine in a fireplace.
