Codes & Standards
Remco Perotti, NEN
// 24FUEL CELLS AND HYDROGEN OBSERVATORY
Standards
SCOPE
► A standard is a voluntary agreement between parties about a product, service or process. Standards are not laws, but "best practices". Everyone can benefit from this on a voluntary basis.
► Standards categorized by main-categories, subcategories, and classes.
▪ The main categories:
• Stationary applications
• Portable applications
• Hydrogen generation
• Infrastructure
• Hydrogen demand
example:
// 25FUEL CELLS AND HYDROGEN OBSERVATORY
Standards
METHODOLOGY
► All hydrogen related standards included and gathered through publicly accessible online platforms from the following standardization developing organizations:
▪ International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
▪ International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML)
▪ International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
▪ European Committee for Standardization (CEN)
▪ European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC)

▪ Title of the standard
▪ Status of standard (published or under development)
▪ Description of the standard
▪ Direct link to the standard (and more information on the standard, such as a preview or table of contents)
▪ Direct link to the scope of the Technical Committee responsible for drafting the standard
▪ An overview of other categories to which the standard applies

// 35FUEL CELLS AND HYDROGEN OBSERVATORY
Identifying and updating automatically all public funding opportunities relevant for Hydrogen Projects in the EU member states and EFTA countries.
SCOPE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT CHAPTER
► EU Direct Funding programmes
▪ Horizon 2020
▪ Life programme
▪ Era-Nets
▪ Eurostars…
► EU Indirect Funding programmes
▪ ERDF
▪ ESF
▪ CF
▪ Interregs…
► National Funding programmes (example FR.)
▪ ANR

// 36FUEL CELLS AND HYDROGEN OBSERVATORY
Identifying and updating automatically all public funding opportunities relevant for Hydrogen Projects in the EU member states and EFTA countries.
METHODOLOGY
► Sourcing
▪ Connection to all regional, interregional, national, intergovernmental and EU funding portals via API to allow automatic updates.
► Search function
▪ The search function uses an artificial intelligence (AI) algorithm vs. traditional keyword search.
▪ This means that results of searches may include adjacent opportunities, loosely aligned with the search criteria with the recommendation to explore further for applicability and eligibility.
▪ The AI search capability is most efficient when multiple words are included.

Automatic classification of the most relevant funding opportunities based on the user’s search
OUTPUTS
► Classification of results
▪ Results are categorised according to how well aligned they are with the search criteria entered: A(high alignment), B (some alignment), C (loosely aligned) or E or NE (eligible or non eligible).
▪ By default, open A & B funding streams are presented first.
▪ Closed calls are also displayed in order to provide the user with background information on previous funding mechanisms.
▪ The user may tailor the results using the filters (type of programmes, type of projects, call status).
▪ Access to official website and summary of the call.
// 38FUEL CELLS AND HYDROGEN OBSERVATORY
Future development, invisible for the user, but with big impact on the service.
WHAT'S NEXT ?
► Continuous improvement of our AI-engine
▪ We are constantly improving the matching between the query and the content of the topics to improve the quality of the results.
► Automatic sourcing of funding programmes.
▪ We are improving the capability of the platform to screen and add automatically more funding programmes.
