“We were the only
ones who had love for
the rope back then”
Not your average girlband,
Swanzy, Margreezy and Bishara
are definitely not the Spice Girls.
FU spoke to the colourful trio to
find out more about them and
their love for rope chains.
FU: Where did you get the band
name, does it have a meaning?
RCS: Spiller Kidz is the name of
our street crew, it consists of
dancers, models, b-boys, writers
etc...We were the only ones who
who had love for the rope back then so we
naturally became the Spiller Kidz who wore
rope chains hence Rope Chain Spiller Kidz.
FU: How long have you been together,
how did you meet?
RCS: We have only been a band since
January but we are family. Me (Swanzy)
and B are blood relatives (I love you B, big
up Mum and Zai). Me and Margreezy met
through a mutual friend, we have gold
running through our veins - and just
clicked. We got that separated at birth
story.
FU: How would you describe your
sound/image?
RCS: Funky, fun, party music. It’s
experimental, we don't quite know how it
sounds like. Our image is gold and
colourful.
FU: Who are your musical influences?
RCS: Salt n Pepper, TLC, Naughty by
Nature, Patra, Queen Latifah, Will Smith
and Jazzy (they had fun), Neneh Cherry
there are soooo many.
FU: There are loads of groups around the
UK who are here today gone tomorrow.
What makes your band so unique and what
do you think is the recipe for a happy band
and longevity in the music business?
RCS: We are unique because we are
relaxed and we just have fun that's what
also keeps our band happy.
FU: What's your proudest moment?
RCS: Our proudest moment was making
our first track, "Washed Up". It made us
really feel like a band. FU
