Foundation for Sustainable Development (FSD) is an international community development organization that engages a global network of grassroots organizations, community leaders, and volunteers to support community-driven projects that fight social, environmental, and economic inequities.

Your donation supports the social, economic, and environmental development programs of our more than 300 community partners, addressing critical needs in developing countries by funding sustainable community development projects.

FSD has been described as the “gold standard for global engagement programs.” With our program sites in 6 countries and 10 cities in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, FSD supports more than 300 community partner organizations and has trained more than 3,000 volunteers to support their work. From a women's beekeeping business in Kenya to nutritional education for mothers in Nicaragua and cook stove projects in India, FSD listens to community priorities and supports local leaders to achieve their vision for a better future.

Our site teams in India connect diverse community partner organizations with talented international interns and volunteers to take on some of the most pressing issues faced by a country that is home to a third of the world’s poor. Through training, grants, and intern-supported projects, such as establishing checkpoints to curb human trafficking and leading business training workshops for rural farm owners, FSD stands at the forefront of ensuring human rights, environmental stewardship and economic stability for the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Our site teams connect diverse community partner organizations with talented international volunteers to take on some of the most pressing issues faced by a continent with nearly 167 million people living in poverty. Through training, grants, and intern-supported projects, such as cultivating high quality, highly nutritional foods to replace expensive, low quality imports, FSD has been securing youth literacy, gender equity, and environmental conservation for the area’s most vulnerable populations.

Producer Education Seminar

Location: Udaipur, India

Project Description: The Producer Education Seminar supports four farming collectives in southern Rajasthan through comprehensive training in business management.

Sustainable Gardening for Self-sufficiency

Location: Salta, Argentina

NGO: Center for Sustainable Rural and Urban Development

(Centro para el Desarollamiento Rural y Urbano Sustentable)

Sector: Youth Education and Development, Environmental

Project Description: Students at the Isonza School are using their new skills in soil conservation, crop rotation, and organic composting to double their garden’s growing capacity.

Community Food Security for Women Living With HIV/AIDS

Location: Jinja, Uganda

NGO: Namwezi Health Clinic III, Njeru

Project Description: The Food Security workshops at Namwezi Health Center help women with HIV to break a cycle of low information, poor nutrition, and poverty.
