Dear customer,
The new season is just around the corner, and soon you will have to decide which varieties you will grow next season; an important time in the growing season. Enza Zaden has varieties you really can trust, varieties that make a positive difference. Our people in the market provide not only advice on how you should grow our varieties optimally, but also feed market information back into the Enza Zaden organisation. The biggest task is to translate the feedback we receive from our customers into new varieties, a challenging, long-term process. Enza Zaden invests considerable time and energy assessing the potential new varieties, which are critically evaluated and selected. During this process, our team strives to bring to you varieties that the market asks for.
Through close cooperation between our breeding and marketing & sales teams we get to know the varieties at an early stage. Determination of the proper cultivation strategy is, of course, very important and therefore the reason why Enza Zaden invests a lot of time here. The aim of Enza Zaden is not only to develop high-quality varieties, but it is also our goal that those using our varieties also achieve optimum productivity. In this brochure you will find an overview of our carefully selected package of pepper, tomato and aubergine varieties, and rootstocks. Included are well-known, established varieties and old favourites, as well as new pepper varieties to the market, Maldonado (E20B.0065) and Kaite (E20B.0073), and new tomato varieties Millandro (E15M.40014), Milaneza (E15M.40618), Camarque (E15T.40194) and Annaïsa (E15T.40414). For more information, growing tips and cultivation guidelines, you can always visit our website enzazaden.co.uk. Our technical sales representatives can help you to make the right variety choice.

Artega• Very stable fruit shape (75-85mm) and weight
• Strong crop
• Nice dark red, blocky pepper
• Thick fruit wall
Artega was introduced in 2012 for growers producing for markets where smaller peppers are
required. Many growers growing for, or in the UK , for example, use this variety since the size
is perfect for the triple pack. This strong variety can be loaded up early, and the fruit colours
very quickly. The fruit is very uniform in size and weight and productivity in both pieces and
kilos is excellent.
Artega
Red
Maldonado (E20B.0065) | new• Very fast colouring
• Med-large fruit with stable fruit weight
• Slender but strong crop
• TM:0-3 resistant
Maldonado is a new red pepper to the market. Thanks to the extremely fast colouring
fruits, the early production of the variety is very high. The plant is initially strong on first
impressions, but ultimately proves to be relatively thin through the summer. The variety
has, like Viper, the ability to set a lot of fruit again at the end of August and therefore total
production is high.

Kaite (E20B.0073) | new• Strong but slender crop
• Very good quality and production
• Fast colouring and stable fruit weight
• TM:0-3 resistant
This new yellow pepper variety is appreciated by both growers and market for its excellent
fruit quality: a beautiful well-shouldered blocky pepper of around 190g, (average over the
year), with a bright, clear, yellow colour and excellent shelf life. The plant is open making it
easy to work. In terms of productivity, the variety has proven to be up there with the best.

Viper• Quick to mature green
• Very high production
• Open, labour friendly crop
• Reliable
Viper has been one of the main varieties in the market in the Netherlands for some years. The
variety is very productive and provides uniform, blocky peppers. Growers achieve this result
by keeping a generative crop throughout the year which is grown slowly and airy.
Viper
Green
Roselo• High quality dark green fruit
• Labour friendly crop
• TSWV resistant
• Slow to colour
Roselo is the jewel among the green peppers. A grower who put the vigour to good use
and turns it into production will appreciate the fruit size and the quality. In summer, the
average fruit weight is around 180 grams and remains 15 to 20 grams heavier than most
other varieties in the market. In addition, the variety colours so slowly that harvesting is only
necessary once every 10 days. The breed is Tm:0-2 and TSWV: 0 resistant.

Small beef
Kanavaro• Excellent fruit quality
• Excellent firmness and shelf life
• Productive
• Shiny, deep red fruit
This small beef has high early production and a good total yield. The fruit has a uniform size,
deep red colour and a very good firmness. The shelf life is extremely good, and the fruit
is ideal for slicing being a reasonably low-juice variety. Although the plant is quite strong,
it remains open making it easy to work with. The good packages of resistances, including
powdery mildew tolerance make it a superb, modern, beef variety.
Truss
Avalantino• Great taste
• Dark red fruit
• Excellent shelf life
• Shiny, deep red fruit
Avalantino is a very tasty tomato with a truss weight of 450 to 500 grams, suitable for flow
packing. The flat trusses are pruned on six throughout the year, and the deep red fruit have
a strong green calyx and sturdy truss. The plant grows strongly and requires generative
steering. Avalantino has intermediate resistance to powdery mildew.

Graziano (E15M.40456)• Productive
• Very uniform trusses
• Fast setting and ripening
• Excellent fruit quality
Graziano is a reasonably vigorous plant which needs a generative growing strategy. The
trusses are best pruned on 6, and the uniformity both down and between trusses is excellent.
The bright red fruit is firm, and ripening down the truss is much better than average for this
segment.
Temptation• Great taste
• Good fruit and vine quality
• Slightly flat-round fruit shape
• Shiny, deep red fruit
Temptation is the very popular small fruited variety derived partly from our cocktail breeding
programme. When pruned to six fruits the fruit weight averages 75 to 80 grams. The fruits are
round/slightly flattened with a good shine and have a superb flavour with high sugar levels.
The plant is vigorous, but quite short jointed producing regular trusses suitable for harvesting
as vines or loose. Best results are achieved by using a generative growing regime.

Millandro (E15M.40014)• Productive
• Uniform fruit weight
• Ideal for pre-packing
• Good shelf life
The new loose tomato from Enza Zaden in the 80-85 grams segment for loose production.
With an open and generative plant type this new loose round is very productive. The plant
finds an easy balance and produces uniform fruit with good brix and shelf life. The market
is now looking for a slightly larger loose round for both prepacking and loose and the
distribution of fruit size really fits the new requirements of the market. The fairly open and
generative plant benefits from being grafted onto a vigorous rootstock and should set well in
lower light conditions.
Nordica• Very productive
• Unbeatable combination of firmness and taste
• Very good shelf life
• Great fruit colour
Nordica is a generative, open plant that is very productive. The fruit has excellent flavour,
colour and shelf life. In trials Nordica can be grown in slightly warmer conditions than that of
Millandro. Nordica finds an easy balance and does not require an overly generative regime.
The plant length is average, and the open habit combined with good powdery mildew
tolerance makes this variety suitable for many greenhouse types and planting dates, including
lit crops. Suitable rootstocks are those which are more generative to compliment the vigour
of the plant.

• Open, labour friendly plant
Careza is still very successful in the 90 grams loose tomato segment. When cultivated at
high densities, with a final distance of 4.5 stems per m2, the fruit weight is between 85 and
90 grams. The plant has an average length, is open and is very labour-friendly. The Careza
fruits have an attractive round shape and colours evenly, even in the presence of Pepino
mosaic virus. The tomato has a fresh-looking calyx and the fruits are extremely tasty and
juicy. Production is early and the total production rate is one of the best in the loose tomato
segment. Thanks to its intermediate mildew resistance, Careza fits in well with biological pest
control systems.
Milaneza (E15M.40618)• Productive
• Excellent fruit firmness
• Excellent shelf life
• Jointless – great for picking loose without calyx
Milaneza is a larger fruited loose round tomato with fruit weight of over 100 grams. The
jointless fruit is very easy to harvest without calyx, but can also be harvested as a vine
product. The very firm fruit has excellent shelf life and matures to a good colour. The fairly
tall plant is sturdy and vigorous, but shows uniform growth and setting while being relatively
labour friendly

This lovely, smaller sized cocktail variety has an average fruit weight of 38-42 grams. The
attractive, shiny, dark red fruit has good shelf life, and is resistant to splitting and russetting,
and the flat, uniform trusses are easy to pack. The plant is vigorous but easily balanced. The
production and flavour, combined with an excellent package of resistances makes this an
ideal cocktail variety.
Camarque (E15T.40194)• Excellent taste
• Good yield
• Great shelf life
• Large, dark red fruit
Carmarque is a larger sized cocktail with average fruit weight of 45-50 grams, and above
average Brix and taste. Trusses are very uniform, ripening easily down the truss with a good,
dark red colour, while not being sensitive to splitting fruit, yellow calyx or russetting. The
plant has reasonable vigour, benefits from a relatively generative growing regime, sets well,
and is easy to work with. An excellent package of resistances, as would be expected from a
modern variety, including Cladosporium (Ff:A-E) and powdery mildew resistance means this
new variety fulfils most wishes.

Annamay has fully lived up to its international expectations as a reliable cocktail tomato.
Its positive characteristics such as its vigour, intermediate mildew resistance, compact truss
configuration, glossiness, uniformity and insusceptibility to split fruits are clear to see. The
latter two properties guarantee a high total production rate. The fruit has good balance
between sweetness and acidity. In the case of cultivation under supplementary artificial
lighting, the good balance in the plant and the fast development are positive characteristics
for winter production.

Resistances
Resistances in varieties of our crops will be coded (see for
explanation our coding list at www.enzazaden.com.), unless
indicated otherwise. In case a variety is resistant to more than one
pathogen, the individual resistance codes will be separated by the
symbol “/”.
• If in a resistance code of a certain variety reference is made to
certain strains for which the resistance is claimed this means that no
resistance is claimed to other strains of the same pathogen.
• If in a resistance code no reference is made to strains of the
pathogen for which the resistance is claimed this means that
resistance is claimed only to certain not further specified strains of
the pathogen and herewith disclaiming any guarantee that the variety
will not be infected by the said pathogen.
High resistance (HR) - plant varieties that highly restrict the growth
and development of the specified pest or pathogen under normal
pest or pathogen pressure when compared to susceptible varieties.
These plant varieties may, however, exhibit some symptoms or
damage under heavy pest or pathogen pressure.
Intermediate resistance (IR) - plant varieties that restrict the growth
and development of the specified pest or pathogen, but may exhibit
a greater range of symptoms or damage compared to highly resistant
plant varieties. Intermediate resistant plant varieties will still show
less severe symptoms or damage than susceptible plant varieties
when grown under similar environmental conditions and/or pest or
pathogen pressure.
Tolerance (T) - the ability of a plant variety to endure abiotic stress
without serious consequences for growth, appearance and yield.
