Well Done Annie! You’ll know from previous newsletters that in order to raise money for the bereave- ment charity Penhaligon’s Friends, last weekend Annie Lee (Sam and Meg’s mum) entered the Isles of Scilly Swim Challenge. Well, we’re very pleased to share the news that not only did Annie complete the 15km swim and 10km walk, but she also managed to raised a whopping £2000 for Penhaligon’s Friends! What an incredible achievement! A huge well done to Annie! School Uniform Vouchers We would like to make parents aware of a uniform voucher service that is available to all parents of children who are in receipt of free school meals or eligible for Pupil Premium funding. We are now using a portion of our Pupil Premium funding to offer parents a £30 uniform voucher per pupil. These vouchers can be used to purchase any two items of school uniform (or equivalent) at Keywear in Tru- ro. If you are in receipt of income support, income based job seeker's allowance, income related employment support and allowance, child tax credits (with an annual income of no more than £16,190) then your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium Funding. If you think your child may be eligible for Pupil Premium fund- ing / free school meals, please pop in or call the school office to fill out a short form or look on our web- site. Pupil Premium funding is available to children in all year groups and is in addition to the Universal Infant Free School meals which is available to all KS1 pupils. Every child who is registered as eligible for pupil premium generates valuable income for the school and this eligibility will also help you access financial as- sistance with various school costs such as trips, clubs and music tuition. You’ll know from previous newsletters that in order to raise money for the bereave-

ment charity Penhaligon’s Friends, last weekend Annie Lee (Sam and Meg’s mum)

entered the Isles of Scilly Swim Challenge. Well, we’re very pleased to share the

We would like to make parents aware of a uniform voucher service that is available to all parents of

children who are in receipt of free school meals or eligible for Pupil Premium funding.

We are now using a portion of our Pupil Premium funding to offer parents a £30 uniform voucher per

pupil. These vouchers can be used to purchase any two items of school uniform (or equivalent) at Keywear in Tru-

ro. If you are in receipt of income support, income based job seeker's allowance, income related employment

Building Learning Power Workshop

Parents will remember that our school has been working very hard over the last year to develop positive learning

strategies through adopting Building Learning Power (BLP). The aim of BLP is to ensure that every child sees them-

selves as a lifelong learner; we believe children should be empowered to see that learning takes place all of the

time and should not be confined to just the classroom and school. The aim and culture of BLP inspired schools allows

children to train and develop their learning muscles, enabling them to become…

- More curious;

- More ready, willing and able to learn with and through others;

- More willing to take a risk in their learning;

- More emotionally intelligent

- More creative;

- More thoughtful;

In order to help us develop our BLP skills we have chosen some child to be BLP Ambassa-

dors. Our ambassadors, along with Mr Harris would like to invite all parents to a BLP work-

shop on Wed 28th Sept 3.30pm in the hall. This will be a great opportunity for parents to find out more about BLP, how

it can help your child learn and of course to see our ambassadors showcasing their BLP skills.

Please come along, it’d be great to see you there!

Singing Therapy!

How many times do you feel a bit down, only to hear a classic track on the radio that makes you feel happy?

Having a really good "sing" does wonders for your health and well being (regardless of the quality of the sound

you make!) We all love to sing...and it makes us feel good.

Have you ever wanted to join a choir, or meet with your friends to catch up, chat and relax? Well, now you can

do both.

An informal, adult singing group will be starting in St Michael's Church 7.30pm on Sunday 11th September. (finish in

time for Poldark!) There is no charge, all we ask is that you bring a bottle of water, an A4 folder and a pen! We will sing songs of

all styles; pop, country, folk, worship, songs of hope and inspiration, show tunes and rock.

You don't need to be able to read music. No pressure to sing solos or to be brilliant! No uniform/choir T-shirt to buy! We will do

some simple arrangements of well known songs and some straight forward sing-a-long numbers. No pressure to perform in con-

certs (unless of course, we decide we'd like to!). This is a fab opportunity to meet with friends, make new friends, have a laugh

and de-stress in preparation for the week ahead. Older children (14 yrs upwards) can also attend but must come with a parent.

For more information call Bec on 01872 572609 or email [email protected]

Art and Craft Club

A new, fun, creative art and craft club begins on Monday 19th Sept at Muttz Cutz. Sessions are on Mondays and

Wednesdays 3.30-5.00pm for children 5-11yrs. The cost is £6.50 per session payable in advance for the half term. Children

can be escorted to the club straight from school with prior parental consent being given to both the school and the club

leader. Spaces are limited so please contact Kate Walsh to reserve yours and find out more details! Tel 07917820506.

Messy Church

The Messy Church is back! Starting this Sunday at St Agnes Church from 3-5pm. There will be different

creative activities taking place, crafts, games, music, stories and lots of fun - there’s even tea for the

adults. Everyone is welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult.

club for whatever reason, they must inform the member of staff running the club or the School Office. To maintain our

safeguarding standards, if a child does not show up to their club without prior notice being given; the school has a duty

to contact parents in order to check the child’s whereabouts.
