What is a fruit cell?What is a fruit cell?A fruit cell is a cell which produces

electricity through citric acid.It is basically made with citrus

fruits.

To make a fruit cell we require… Some citrus fruits Cu and Zn plates Alligator clips Connecting wires LEDs

So now we have gathered all the items lets get started……..

Two incisions are made in the fruits to insert the copper and the zinc plate in the fruits

• The copper and the zinc plates are slotted in the fruit.

• Two fruits or more are connected in series because the battery power is weak in one fruit.

• Now lets connect the plates using the alligator clips.

Once the alligator clips are connected to all the plates. Let’s connect the wires with the LED.

Once the setup is completed it results in the glowing of the LED.

When the metal touches the acid electrons flow around the circuit to the copper electrode, here copper ions are attracted to the negative electrons and when they meet they are neutralised forming copper metal.
