Game 4:Earl Watson West Coast Elite 76, A.O.C. 39

Spencer Freedman (Santa Monica) scored 16 points, Harrison Butler (Mater Dei) scored 15 and RileyBattin (Oak Park) had 14 points and 14 rebounds as Earl Watson West Coast Elite routed A.O.C. in what wasexpected to be the top game of the day at the Slam Jam/Californiapreps.com Incoming Sophomore/FreshmenShowcase.

It looked like the event's heavyweight bout going in. The teams clearly had the size and athleticism to match upwith each other, and the schedule was drawn up so that they would face each other in both teams' first game ofthe day so as to avoid either team having to play the other immediately after another game.

But as a heavyweight bout, this one resembled Mike Tyson vs. Michael Spinkscirca 1988. Earl Watson Elite jumped out to a quick 100 lead, turned that into a214 advantage about eight minutes into the game and led handily the rest ofthe way.

A.O.C. managed to cut what had been a 24point deficit to 18 points after a 3pointer by Sam Holtze (Notre Dame) just after the halfway mark, but then EarlWatson Elite pulled away again. 

A 3point play by Elijah McCullough (Damien) made it a 30point game at 5626 with about 13 minutes left on the clock.

Freedman led all scorers with his 16 points, and he also had gamehighs of 8assists and 5 steals. 

Butler had 15 points, including 3 threepointers, and Battin had his 14 points andgamehigh 14 rebounds. McCullough chipped in with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4steals.

For A.O.C., Holtze scored a teambest 12 points and added 5 rebounds, 2 assistsand a steal. 

Cleon Gallien (Santa Monica) had 10 points and 6 rebounds, and KhristionCorseault (Loyola) had 6 points and 6 rebounds.
