Production of front cover

In order to create my front cover for my magazine, I used the software Photoshop as this allowed me to crop my front cover image to make it the right shape and size, by using the polygonal lasso tool to make it accurate.

This is the image I have taken fully cropped used for my front cover music magazine.

First of all on my front cover page for my magazine I had applied the masthead by using the text tool, which I named ‘RMUSic’ in the font Tahoma, size 165.16, and I also made it bold therefore it could stand out however, to make it stand out more I applied two effects on it called stroke and a drop shadow which makes my masthead bald. I used the colour red as it portrays the genre rock I am producing for my magazine.

To insert my dominant image, I had opened it from an other document which then I dragged into this page, resizing it by ‘control T’ which allowed me to make it the perfect shape and size.

I then applied the name of the name of the music artist for my front cover so I had used the same font of the masthead Tahoma and I also had made it bald, the size of font as 170.33pt to make it stand out. However, the name could not be as bald as the masthead so I did not apply any effects to it. Moreover I used the red again as this reflects the genre of him as an artist which is rock.

After I have inserted the coverlines which portrayed what is in the article.

I inserted two box which are yellow by using the shape box and changing the colour as this will make it stand out so the audience will most likely directly look at these parts of the magazines.

I used the text box to insert this and using the shape tool to use for the small circles for my magazine.

Afterwards I applied ‘buzzword’ which makes my magazine stand out as it offers different things which could appeal to many buyers so I used the shape tool to create the circle, changed the colour to black to show contrast from the text as I used white and yellow. This makes it very effective as contrast will make my magazine bold and by using the rotation tool I tilt the text too.

I added a simple text for the positioning statement below the masthead.

Lastly I added the barcode by creating it from a using the shape tool as I created a box firstly and inserted small little lines to make it look more realistic, by filling them into different thickness which applies to a real magazine. Then I added text above which contains my price, website, date and magazine logo.
