What’s the Problem?

o Large number of workovers required due to solids production

o Workovers becoming increasingly difficult as reservoirs deplete

o Complete or partial losses observed in pay zones

o Production reduced, wells shut-in, wasted water and rig moves

o Solution Required to :

o Temporarily reduce loses for pump replacements

o Minimal formation damage

o Call out operation

3

PG

The Approach

Fiber based pill

Classically sized

lost circulation

material (LCM)

Medium Small Large

o Dimension of loss zone typically uncertain

4

PG

Bridge before entry into formation

5

PG

Degradation

6 days at 40 degC 1 day at 40 degC Initial

o No flush or intervention required, cleans up on production

6

PG

Field Trial 1

o 7” intermediate casing

o 2-7/8” tubing to 853m

o 4-1/2” pre-perforated liner to 1,110m (212m) 0.5” EH, 6 spf

o Highly deviated up to 62˚

o Water level ~130m from surface

o Unable to maintain circulation while replacing PCP

7

PG

Field Trial 1

o Rig equipment used (no additional equipment onsite)

o 25 bbl pill, 88% losses cured

o 22% under AFE

o Post job results inline with expectation (no pre-job results available)

o Sample from job monitored for degradation in district lab in hot bath

8

PG

Track Record

o 12 wells completed at 83% Success Rate

o 7 additional call outs

o 2 fluid formulations based on cleat size, loss rate and production history

o Completions trialed

o Vertical and Deviated

o Openhole, pre-perforated casing, tubing above and within opehole sections

PG

Lessons Learnt

o Rig Requirements

o Mixing Equipment

o Schlumberger Batch Mixer for superior mixing (and keeps rig tanks clean)

o Rig triplex to minimize equipment on location

o Additional wellsite QA/QC

o Remove strainers inline

o PAH/BTEX Testing completed

Value Proposition

o Preserve production potential: Prevent fluid invasion into the reservoir

o No post job flush: Cleans-up upon production

o Pill prepared on site: Rapid response in light vehicle

o Increased rig efficiency: Less rig moves

o More Production: Less wells shut-in
