Cunningham December 1, 2016 “Preparing students for the future through spiritual and academic excellence” There will be Protecting God’s Children Workshops held at St. Mary Parish on the following dates: Tuesday, December 7 th at 7:00 Library Sunday, December 11 th at 10:45 Library You may register for these workshops by clicking the “Promise to Protect-Pledge to Heal” picture and then clicking “Virtus” in the left hand column. All those who want to volunteer at St. Mary School must complete this program. Iowa Test Results The Iowa Test results will be coming home tomorrow, December 2 nd , in the Friday Folder of your youngest child. Some information gained by the Iowa Test: measures mastery of core standards; monitors student growth over time; and drives curriculum decisions. We are pleased that St. Mary students continue to perform above the national average at all grade levels. Manna Fundraiser The Class of 2017 and PTC are again sponsoring a Manna Fundraiser. The special order forms were sent home in the Friday Folder of your youngest child. Completed Master Order Forms and a single check per family are due on Monday, December 5 th . The top selling family will receive a $50 gift card of their choice. Advent Prayer Service All are invited to our next Advent Prayer Service of the season will be held on Wednesday, December 7 th at 8:30 a.m. in the gym. Thank you to Miss Jolly, Mrs. Hedrick, and Mrs. Pell for preparing this prayer service. Choir for Christmas Eve St. Mary School students age 7-12 are invited to join the Children’s Choir for one special Mass. Students are invited to sing at the 4:15 p.m. Christmas Eve Mass in the Gym. The only requirement is that the student attend one rehearsal that will be held on Monday, December 19 th from 4:00-5:30 in the church. The dress code for this Mass includes a Christmas dress for girls and dress pants and shirt for boys. 3-year-old Preschool Comes to SMS I am excited to announce that St. Mary School will offer a 3-year-old preschool program for the 2017-2018 school year (based on enrollment). We are still in the early planning stages of this program. Some renovation will be necessary to make this a reality. We look forward to sharing more details and architectural drawings with you in the coming months. Please help spread the word to families with young children to help this become a reality. Current parents and students are the best marketing ambassadors for our school. St. Mary School is truly is a wonderful place.

D.A.R.E. Thank you to the Mokena Police Department and Officer Czarnicki for spending time with our students and teaching the 5th grade D.A.R.E and our 1st grade about safety.

Faculty/Staff Christmas Gift PTC has arranged a convenient way for parents to give the teachers a monetary Christmas gift.
