This year St Johns Park High School has proudly joined the “Breaking the Silence” schools

program. The program provides knowledge and strategies to implement respectful

relationships and domestic violence education in schools. As an inclusive school community

we combined with Prairievale, Horsley Park, Bossley Park and William Stimson Primary schools

and Bossley Park High School to start a White Ribbon Day Walk to raise awareness and

commit to positive conversations to end domestic violence against women and families.

Congratulations to everyone involved! Our focus on generational change continued in

partnership with Cabra-Vale Diggers Club through the Generational Leaders Women 2018

program developing entrepreneurial skills to address real community needs, Congratulations

to our SRC coordinator Ms Julie Lie, and Year 10 students Calista Cheng and Gabrielle Po-Myat

for your efforts and dedication. Finally St Johns Park is turning 40, our school is celebrating

four amazing decades of excellence in public education! Our exceptional

alumni will feature in our new website and provide a glimpse into our school

over the decades and continue our work in providing opportunities for our

community to connect and highlight the many excellent achievements. I

would like to thank Deputy Principal Nicole Sullivan and the organising

committee for their commitment to our celebration activities, and a

reminder you can follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Deputy Matters !!

Ending violence against women and children, together this White Ribbon Day St Johns Park High School has come together on White Ribbon Day to end men’s violence against women and children in our community. As a community, we play a vital role in standing up, speaking out and ending all forms of violence against women. We would like to congratulate the SRC for taking part in the White Ribbon Day walk (see page 3) and our student leaders, teachers and executive who set the standard for respectful behaviour and gender equality in our school. We are taking an active step to challenge the status quo, to treat everyone with equality and respect and we encourage others in our community to join us.

Upgrades to our school facilities

Visitors to our school have commented positively on the grounds and the improvements that have been made this year. This includes our new signage, gym, paintwork and gardens. Over the coming weeks further improvements will be made with fresh seating and gardens between the quad and basketball courts, new carpet in the counsellors, conference and common room as well as new flexible furniture in these spaces. We know that a clean, modern environment is important to the mental wellbeing of staff and students and will continue making improvements into 2019.

Keep up to date!

Celebrating the end of Year 10 On Friday 16 November, Year 10 students, deputy, advisers and teachers enjoyed a fun day out at Gunnamatta Bay, Cronulla, celebrating the end of junior schooling.

Students and teachers were eager and ready for a fun filled day. It was a great way to unwind and relax and say good bye to junior years. A perfect venue to create wonderful memories and refresh for the start of senior year.

Congratulations to all Year 10 for their exemplary behaviour and participation.
