ON TIME AWARDS In the last newsletter I wrote about the importance of regular attendance and coming to school on time. Being at school between 8.50 and 9am gives your child a chance to put down their bag, have a little play and socialise with their classmates before the bell goes to line up. It sets your child up for a good start to the school day. At Monday Assembly we have the On Time Awards where we announce the class who has had the least amount of late children arriving to class. The class with the ‘least late days’ for the term win a free icypole on the last day of term. This term’s class with the least late days was Prep A with ONLY 11 late days for the whole term! Well done Prep A for setting the standard for the whole school. Unfortunately there were some other classes that had 50 late days and it is usually the same students, so please assist your child to be at school on time - ten minutes is all it takes. BIKE SAFETY in the HOLIDAYS We had a very successful Ride to School Day last Friday with over half our students travelling to school under wheels or walking. We encourage safe riding by wearing helmets at all times when cycling, cycling on paths (for under 12 year olds), and being aware of road traffic. Have a safe and happy holiday. NORTHERN PENINSULA DIVISION SWIMMING CARNIVAL On Wednesday 11th March 4 Seaford Park students represented the Seaford District in the Northern Peninsula Swimming Carnival. Sahara, Tayla, Oska and Brodie swam in a variety of events. Sahara in the 50m freestyle, backstroke and butterfly, Tayla in the breaststroke and backstroke, Oska in the freestyle and breaststroke and Brodie in the backstroke. These students showed an enormous amount of confidence to compete in front of a large crowd. It is the first time in many years that Seaford Park students have participated in this event and the first time that these students have taken part in such a large competition. It was a lovely day and a wonderful experience for Sahara, Tayla, Oska, and Brodie, and although none of our students made it through to the next round of competition, everyone should be extremely proud of their efforts, I certainly was! CONGRATULATIONS. Kyle Witte.

BALLAM PARK On March 13th we had the field events at Ballam Park. We competed in five events, triple jump, long jump, discus, shot put and high jump. The 9 year olds who obtained a place were Callum, he came 2nd in long jump, Dakota also came second in long jump, Lily came first in discus and Jovelle 2nd in discus and 3rd in shot put. In the 10 year age group the people who achieved a place were Nethan he came 2nd in long jump, Tayla came 3rd in high jump. Well done Jenna L, Charlotte B, Alesia I, Jolie F, Nethan A, Adam H, Tayla A, Lachlan M and Lochlan S under 10’s. Well done to the other people who competed in this group. In the 11 year age group the people who achieved a place were, Abul who came 3rd in the high jump, Alyssa who came 2nd in the discuss and Brodie who came 3rd in the long jump. Well done to the other people who competed in this group. In the 12/13 year age group the people who achieved a place were Oska M who came 2nd in triple jump, Charlotte D who came 1st in the discus. Well done to everyone else who tried hard in this age group. We would like to thank all the parents who came down and helped out and to the teachers Mr Triplow, Mrs Witte and Melissa who organised the day. It was a great day.

ZONE SPORTS

35 Seaford Park students competed in discuss, shot put, high jump, long jump and triple jump events. Students who finished in 1st and 2nd place in their events will now continue on to the Northern Peninsula Zone competition in term 2. Congratulations to, Charlotte, Alyssa, Nethan and Oska who will be representing our school. Lily, Callum and Jovelle also placed 1st or 2nd but unfortunately there is no 9 year old age group at the Zone athletics. We are very proud of the persistence our students showed as they attempted each event. Even if they weren’t successful on their first or second attempts they kept trying and continued on to have a third attempt. Well done everyone! Thank you to Mr Triplow, Ms Simencic and Mr Spilling for marshalling the discus events.

RIDE 2 SCHOOL

A big thanks to all the parents who encouraged their children to take part in the Ride2School day on Friday 20th March. It was a fantastic effort and the Bike Shed had just enough room. On the day we had 39 children ride to school, 11 skate or scoot and 29 walk. This gave us a total of 79 children taking part in the Ride2School event. 72 came by car or bus. What a fabulous effort with over half the school taking part. Your participation contributed to the biggest National Ride2ASchool Day ever, and I’d like to share some numbers with you. More that 2040 schools took part in the celebration, over 350,000 students actively travelled to school and 346 new schools to the Ride2School program took part for the first time. Please encourage your children to continue this commitment by regularly riding, skating, scooting or walking to school safely. Mr Lewis.

I SEA I CARE On 16th March Tarkyn and I went to Hampton Park. We met Mandy the I Sea I Care organiser and students from the other schools. We were learning how to present a workshop to the Preps. Mandy told us her golden rule “Don’t say no to preps”. We taught a lesson on creatures in the sea to the Preps. We picked out the parts to teach back at our school. I will teach about the blue devil fish and Tarkyn about rubbish. Emma
