FOR SENIORS ONLY: College Park will be offering an awesome opportunity for our seniors this year! Sen-iors who need to take the TSI (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) will have the opportunity to do so on College Park’s campus during the school day on April 12th. The TSI is the placement exam that Texas community colleges and universities use to determine college readiness and lets the college know which level of English, Math, Science, and Social Studies that a student can enroll in at their college. All students currently enrolled in AQR (Advanced Quantitative Reasoning) are required to register for the TSI as that is a course requirement. Seniors wishing to register for the test can do so until March 9th. At the time of reg-istration for the exam, students must have completed their application to Lone Star College, regardless of where they are planning to attend. Because Lone Star will be administering the test, students wishing to test must have a Lone Star ID. The only way to have an ID is to complete an application. Students may complete the applica-tion on their own, or may sign up to visit with a representative from Lone Star who is on our campus. Directions to meet with Lone Star are below. The registration form with College Park will require students to have available: First Name, Last Name, Student Email Address, Parent Email Address, College Park ID Number, Lone Star ID Number, Lone Star Login, Lone Star Password, and the name of the college they plan to attend in 2018-2019. These are all things we will need for testing which is why we are asking for that information. Process for TSI Registration:
1. Complete Lone Star College Application prior to March 9th. 2. Register on College Park High School SENIOR TSI Testing
Google Doc (You must have a Lone Star ID to do this) by Friday, March 9th
3. Pay Fee on My Lone Star Portal by Monday, March 26th Print off screenshot or receipt and turn it into their counselor. Friday, April 6th Students can do this on their own through their My Lone Star Account

Lone Star College, Montgomery, (the campus across from CP) is offering a senior connec-tions day where current seniors can attend orientation, receive a campus tour and register for classes early. This is a fantasitc way to take care of your registration before it gets cra-zy! I have attached a flyer from them below.
This event will take place on April 5th. Students must meet the qualifications below in or-der to participate. Students Must Register to Participate. Registration does not guarantee they can go, as there are limited spots available.
Transportation IS NOT provided by College Park. Families are responsible for their child's transportation to and from LSC Montgom-ery. The deadline to register for this event is Friday, March 23rd. Students will be informed Monday, March 26th if the are able to attend or if they are on the waitlist. Only 33 spots for CP students are available.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Student must have a completed application to Lone Star. www.lonestar.edu
2. Student must provide their Lone Star ID Number at the time of signing up for this opportunity.
3. Student must have the TSI taken or be exempt from the TSI to participate, as students can not register for classes without the appropriate scores/exemption. A list of those can be found here: http://www.lonestar.edu/placement-testing-info.htm
Exemptions include SAT (480 or higher EBRW, 530 or higher Math) or ACT (23 or higher Composite, with at least a 19 in Reading and Math)
4. You must complete this CP Google Doc. Completion of the google doc doesn't ensure your ability to go, as seats are limited to the first 33 students who apply and meet the qualifications.
Students who still have one of their college visit days (that doesn't count against exemption) may take a college visit day to attend this event. Students wishing to take the college visit day MUST PICK UP A COLLEGE VISIT FORM from attendance BEFORE attending the event. They must TAKE THE FORM TO LONE STAR and have the Lone Star Admissions department sign and stamp the form where indicated and then RETURN IT TO THE CP ATTENDANCE OFFICE. I will remind you prior to the orientation day, but ultimate-ly this is the responsibility of the student.
This is only for students who plan to attend that campus in the fall of 2018, not for students wanting to take classes this summer.
Again, College Park is limited to 33 spots for students for this program. It is first come first serve, but I will keep a waitlist. I will

Two students from College Park High School's Texas Association of Future Educators have qualified for the national competition by placing first and second in the state wide competition February 15 - 17, 2018. The Educators Rising Leadership
Award Competition, sponsored by the PDK Greater San Antonio chapter, encourages inspired, proactive Educators Rising members to make an impact in their communities. Contestants seek to exemplify sound leadership and a strong commitment to improving education in their communities. The final award is given to one Educators Rising member who has made notable, voluntary contributions to his or her community through education.
To enter this competition, Educators Rising members must successfully complete a self-initiated service-learning pro-ject that meets several requirements:
• The project benefits individuals with special needs
• The project includes a sustainability strategy so that the project’s impact will not end when the Educators Rising Leadership Award competition is over
• The project cannot be part of the required curriculum for a course,
• The project requires a minimum of 40 hours of work
• The project must be led by a single Educators Rising member. (While collaboration is encouraged, only one student per project will be eligible to win the scholarship.)
Submit the complete project portfolio by the competition registration deadline stated in the General Competition In-formation sheet.
Alexa Frank, with the help of her committee members, won first at state. Alexa's project consists of rebuilding the green house and creating a garden for the Prep for Life Students on campus. Alexa, her team and the Prep for Life stu-dents have cleaned the greenhouse, created planters, painted planters and will be planting vegetables and flowers soon. Alexa and her committee will then assist the Prep for Life students in caring for and harvesting the garden. The ultimate goal is to assist the students with a life skill and be able to harvest vegetables for the Prep for Life Cafe that sells lunches to staff members once a month. College Park TAFE and Prep for Life are excited about the CP Gardens and cannot wait to follow its progress.
Grace Cantrell from College Park placed second in the Educators Rising Leadership contest. Grace initiated a project to support the special needs students on campus who are members of the Best Buddies club. The Best Buddies club hosts a prom each year with special needs students and students without special needs. Grace's project allows the stu-dents to choose a corsage or a boutineer for the prom. Students from College Park's floral design class and Texas Asso-ciation of Future Educators will work together to create the flowers for the special needs students and their big night. The special needs and the regular education students are excited about the flowers for the Best Buddies prom.
