Student and Parent voice is crucial for us. We use the data collected to help improve our systems. We really appreciate all the supportive and constructive comments that have been sent to our staff. Thank you to our AWESOME teachers for the dedication and hard work you have put into setting up an online learning system. This is not easy or natural for our teachers. Building relationships is key to teaching children. Being able to look them in the eye and read body language is crucial to the way we educate our learners. Sitting beside them and adjusting the planning and lessons to suit the pace at which they are learning new knowledge and skills is very difficult to do through a computer screen. So, yes we do realise some of the online learning is not perfect but we are doing our best in a less than ideal situation. Returning to School: At this stage returning to school is possible but unfortunately not like our learners remember it. To be honest it is not a lot of fun at the moment!! Mixed Year level bubbles have been set up. Students must obey all social distancing rules set by the Government. Students must wait at the front of the school and come onsite at strictly set times to reduce social contact. Playgrounds, toys and sport equipment are all out of bounds. Each child has their own set desk and they will continue with the set online learning with teacher support from a distance. A far from ideal way of learning. Thank you: A huge thank you to Alex and Alma Juma for all their IT support. Our BoT made the decision to release over 60 of our school devices to families who did not have a device. Alex and Alma were instrumental in the retrieval and distribution of these assets. Supporting local – As a staff we are all supporting our local businesses and contractors wherever we can through online ordering and booking local businesses to complete our required work. We urge our school community to support local and do the same. Please stay safe. We really look forward to the day our MPS learners can all safely and happily bounce back into our school, see their mates and get stuck into their learning. One day it just clicks… “You realise what’s important and what isn’t. You learn to care less about what other people think of you and more about what you think about yourself. School Re-opened This Week Under Level 3 For Children Of Essential Workers

This week a very different Matamata Primary School re-opened for a small amount of children

whose parents are Essential Workers. There was a huge amount of preparation involved with opening our doors on Wednesday with a group of teachers

working on a rotation system to run the two “bubbles” of children arriving at school. The Health and Safety processes involved with this are huge so

a Sanitising Station was set up at the front of the school before the children enter.

The children brought their own devices to school and worked on these throughout the day.

Thank you to all of our parents for supporting the school during this time. We appreciate those of you that are able to keep your children at home learning and while in Level 3 do not encourage any parents

to enter the school grounds. The teachers, Principal and Office staff can be contacted by email.

We will respond as soon as possible.
