From the Principal As we come to the last few weeks of a remarkable term, we have much to celebrate. All staff, students and community members pulled together to find a successful way through learning from home. Relaonships have been cemented, an appreciaon for teaching and learning has been underlined and staff and students equally happy to return to face to face tuion. We have had to forgo a number of community/special events this term due to the regulaons put in place from COVID. At present we connue with the same operang guidelines under which all students returned to school on Monday 25th May. To this end the Student Council are currently looking to arrange a celebraon day for the final day of school Friday 26th June, a me for all students to celebrate the compleon of this tumultuous term. Further details will follow once finalised. In 2021 a new primary school will open on Yawalpah Road and as such our catchment boundary will change for next year. Our enrolment process for 2021 will begin when we return from the June/July holidays for families that are already enrolled and are looking to enrol siblings for 2021. For new families we will be postponing the taking of enrolments unl the catchment boundary has been published on the Department of Educaon Website to ensure accuracy of numbers at both schools. The new school will enrol new students across Prep to 6 and as such it would be gratefully appreciated if you are leaving PSPC for this that you inform the office at your earliest convenience to facilitate staffing conversaons at both schools. We would normally be preparing to deliver Semester 1 Report Cards at this me of the year. With the changes to all of our lives this year, we will not be compleng reports cards unl Week 3 Term 3. They will again be emailed home and will look very different to previous reports as we will be only reporng on 4 subjects for Semester 1. It has been determined that the Gold Coast Show Holiday (normally held towards the end of August each year) will now be moved to Friday 14th August to coincide with the moved Ekka Show Day holiday. This has been done by the State Government in an aempt to generate some tourism in the Qld regions. Please note this change in your diaries. Prep parents may have received an SMS message from QLD health advising that vision screening will be happening onsite next week. Please note this was an automated message organised before COVID and the tesng we had arranged has been postponed. We are currently negoang a new date in Term 4. Please disregard the message and we will advise soon of a new screening date. Kind regards, Donna Gosling | Principal Issue 8 - Week 8 Term 2, 2020 Page 1
