From the PREZ HELLO ALL, It was nice to see a big crowd at our last meeting. The lounge area at Prospector’s fills up pretty fast with those wanting dinner before the meeting. I think that area is designed to muffle sound as my puny voice doesn’t seem to carry very far. A solution is coming. We had 26 cars show up for the INCCC Downtown Scholarship Car show this year. Unfortu- nately, we need to find a new staging area as the old WSC Bookie store parking lot is now reserved parking only. Bill Semmler led us in to the show and they gave us a nice shady spot to park but not quite as nice as last year’s location in front of Chase Bank. The show was fun and I had the opportunity to present our $1500 scholarship to the grandfather of Ty Warner. Apparently, Ty was not able to be present. INCCC gave away fifteen $1500 scholarships at their show this year. Well it’s finally over! Glass-on-Grass at Mirabeau Park was a huge success for our club. The park is a beautiful grassy area with lots of parking room, a large covered pavilion and nearby restrooms. Other than some gnats and hungry yellow jackets buzzing the BBQ the show turned out to be very successful for our first Glass-on-Grass at Mirabeau . Final count was 85 cars which is about 14 less than last year. Big prize winners this year were Leroy & MC Beeby from Helena, MT. with their 2004 Black convertible for the longest distance travelled AND they also won the Grand Prize - an overnight stay at Spokane’s Davenport Hotel. Doug & Sara Fearing from Kennewick won the $50 for Favorite Car with their 1966 white convertible which I understand they donated the cash back to our charity the Shrin- ers Hospital of Spokane. My BLUDVL plate won Best Vanity Plate and Darrell Larson won the 50/50. The Shriners also received an out-right donation of $100 from Bill Hiatt from the Wenatchee Club. I want to thank everyone who pitched in to make this year’s Glass-on-Grass a great success. Special thanks to Jackie Brown for being GOG Chair, Kelly Brown for handling the parking and the “go-to-guy” for logistics, Denise DeFreese for taking care of the logo design and clothing, Arlyn and Pat Thurber and Nick Brown for handling the car photos, Linda Zinn for running the prize table, Mary Tantriella for hosting the Friday night Meet-n-Greet, Chuck Adams for being our MC , Vinnie Beck for traffic director and my wife, Martha for handling registration and the GOG Saturday greeting table. Thanks to AutoNation, our main sponsor, and Bill Noble for bringing out a couple cars to display and finally, thanks to Rene Sellgren for the delicious BBQ meal. There are many, many others who helped make the event suc- cessful and I am truly sorry if I did not mention you here but we all know who you are. From the PREZ

HELLO ALL,

It was nice to see a big crowd at our last meeting. The lounge area at Prospector’s fills up

pretty fast with those wanting dinner before the meeting. I think that area is designed to

muffle sound as my puny voice doesn’t seem to carry very far. A solution is coming.

We had 26 cars show up for the INCCC Downtown Scholarship Car show this year. Unfortu-

nately, we need to find a new staging area as the old WSC Bookie store parking lot is now

reserved parking only. Bill Semmler led us in to the show and they gave us a nice shady

spot to park but not quite as nice as last year’s location in front of Chase Bank. The show

was fun and I had the opportunity to present our $1500 scholarship to the grandfather of

Ty Warner. Apparently, Ty was not able to be present. INCCC gave away fifteen $1500

scholarships at their show this year.

Well it’s finally over! Glass-on-Grass at Mirabeau Park was a huge success for our club. The

park is a beautiful grassy area with lots of parking room, a large covered pavilion and

nearby restrooms. Other than some gnats and hungry yellow jackets buzzing the BBQ the

show turned out to be very successful for our first Glass-on-Grass at Mirabeau . Final count

was 85 cars which is about 14 less than last year. Big prize winners this year were Leroy &

MC Beeby from Helena, MT. with their 2004 Black convertible for the longest distance

travelled AND they also won the Grand Prize - an overnight stay at Spokane’s Davenport

Hotel. Doug & Sara Fearing from Kennewick won the $50 for Favorite Car with their 1966

white convertible which I understand they donated the cash back to our charity the Shrin-

ers Hospital of Spokane. My BLUDVL plate won Best Vanity Plate and Darrell Larson won

the 50/50. The Shriners also received an out-right donation of $100 from Bill Hiatt from

the Wenatchee Club.

I want to thank everyone who pitched in to make this year’s Glass-on-Grass a great success.

Special thanks to Jackie Brown for being GOG Chair, Kelly Brown for handling the parking

and the “go-to-guy” for logistics, Denise DeFreese for taking care of the logo design and

clothing, Arlyn and Pat Thurber and Nick Brown for handling the car photos, Linda Zinn for

running the prize table, Mary Tantriella for hosting the Friday night Meet-n-Greet, Chuck

Adams for being our MC , Vinnie Beck for traffic director and my wife, Martha for handling

registration and the GOG Saturday greeting table. Thanks to AutoNation, our main sponsor,

and Bill Noble for bringing out a couple cars to display and finally, thanks to Rene Sellgren

for the delicious BBQ meal. There are many, many others who helped make the event suc-

cessful and I am truly sorry if I did not mention you here but we all know who you are.

SPOKANE CORVETTE CLUB From the PREZ (cont.)

The Sunday Autocross at Deer Park brought out 9 cars and 14 drivers according to Arlyn. He

noted not many were from the car show and hopes we can do better next time. Unfortunately,

there are no more Autocross events scheduled for the rest of the year but if there is enough inter-

est we may be able to find an opening.

With that, please check the event schedule for runs and events coming up and we’ll see you at the

August 8th meeting at Prospector’s.

Oh, and by-the-way, Dave & Judy VanHerset have another super dinner run planned for August

15th, so keep that date open. It’s someplace we have never been.
